• Re: e701i-a3 no picture but backlights

Okay so I disconnected the right side drivers, but still got no picture.

However, when I disconnect the right/main ribbon cable (the larger one that goes directly to the T-con), I'm able to get picture on the left side of the screen, while the right side just stays blank (which makes sense because both the vertical and side drivers are disconnected at this point).

I'm not sure why this would be happening, since most people seem to get full picture that's just dimmed on the bad side when the side drivers are disconnected....

Minor update: I put in the new new T-con board, like I said this one is slightly different but it was easy to identify the appropriate components on it, so I ran every test I could without plugging the TV in/turning it on:

I have the right side ribbon cable disconnected and I'm getting between 9-10 kohm (which according to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyCKoMi_5IA is the correct reading from the panel)
I ran the diode/continuity tests shown in the shopjimmy video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTnkOfwBGGE)...

Well I'm pretty much at the end of the line on this one.

I determined which side of the panel was bad using the video sent above(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyCKoMi_5IA). The video says that if the panel is good then you should get 9 to 10 kohms so here's a summary of the tests I did:
1. Removed the left ribbon cable (going directly to the t-con) and got 1kohm
2. Reconnected the left and removed the right side and got 9kohm (which, unless I'm misinterpreting the video, means the left side is good...

Thanks for the responses guys! I tested the voltages following a few different videos/guides and was able to determine that

A) my t-con is being powered as it should be and all my other voltages seem to be good
B) both the t-cons that I have now are duds. I don't know if used one I bought was broken when I got it or if I accidentally blew it. But I only powered the TV on with one side of the ribbons disconnected so theoretically I shouldn't have blown it. And when I powered on the TV I didn't get the "3 seconds...

Okay so I have no good news to report, but it may not all be bad news.

I inspected both sides of the drivers and none of the connectors looked burned out or brown or anything, but I know they might not always appear burnt out so this doesn't really tell me too much.

I put in the used t-con I got off ebay and got no picture with either of the sides disconnected, just the same backlit screen with no picture. I tried just connecting both sided and turning the tv on just to see and still nothing. This leads to me...

Found this video as an example of only the T-con needing to be replaced. What he describes in the beginning of the video sounds like exactly what happened to me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPLlN2m0nOU

But to be safe I'm still going to test with each of the sides disconnected. I'll post updates later this week or over the weekend, wish me luck!

Thanks everyoneRe: e701i-a3 no picture but backligh...o be replaced.

I just read through the entire thing over the last couple days and it seems like the most likely cause of T-con failure is one side of the panel drivers, although there are cases on other forums/videos of people just swapping out the t-con and being good to go. I didn't see any obvious visual signs that either side of the drivers failed on my set (no dark spots or anything) but I want to minimize the risk of going through multiple T-cons to try and diagnose it.

I bought a used T-con on ebay that should hopefully...

I think I realize what you're saying - I haven't considered the possibility that it really is just my T-con board that needs to be replaced. I've been operating on the assumption that one side of the drivers is what caused the T-con failure, but I'm guessing it's possible that the T-con fried independently right?

So if I test with the drivers disconnected on each side and don't see any obvious signs of either side being bad, then I obviously wouldn't want to rip off any of the drivers and I can just reconnect them both and call...

• Re: e701i-a3 no picture but backlights

So I think I'm a step behind this - I'm not getting any picture at all, just backlights and sound. Which based on previous posts in here, it sounds like I need to replace the T-conn board before I can determine which side is giving me the problem, right?

So my next step should be to put in the new T-conn and turn the TV on with one of the drivers disconnected and see if I get any picture.

Does that make sense?...

I thought I had the same problem described by most people in this post - backlights but no picture. From what I understand, it sounds like my T-con needs to be replaced in order for me to test out if one of my drivers has failed, correct? Because without the new T-con, I won't be able to get any picture and determine which side of my drivers are bad.

My main question was about how exactly to test each side with the new T-con. There are 4 ribbon wires that lead into the T-con, which should all be connected, right?...

• Re: e701i-a3 no picture but backlights

Hi everyone, I've read through dozens of pages of this thread and I think I have a decent idea of what I'm doing but just want to get some confirmation. I'll try to outline my situation so far:

I have the classic issue with no picture/'blue' screen/audio still works/the whole nine. I've taken off the back panel and tried taking off the left and right driver wires with no changes (leading me to believe that the T-Con board is fried). I have not tried purchasing a new T-Con board or anything, all of this has transpired over the...
