Hi
I'w wondering if such damage may be repaired.
The panel seems to be not broken, it looks like a driver ribbon issue....

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
Thanks for all the hints.
Yes, with the tape or without it, when the U ribbon was disconnected, the screen was not working. Only the backlight started to work, but there was no LG logo shown up.
I'm quite happy with the current results, as I spent only 120Eur for the TV and list additional 150Eur for the parts. The bonus parts I will try to sell, as they were not needed.
Those thin lines are visible only from a really short distance. It was really exiting to learn how all those elements works...

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
The problem is in the third driver so the U ribbon doesn't affect the display. When it is disconnected, than there is no picture on the display. The line which blinks is not broken from any sides. I will try to fix the masking, to disable only the 9th pin, to chceck if those vertical lines are show due to masking too mamy pins....

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
The second t-con works in the same way. I think that I will try to look for the broken cap right now.
The screen works, but there are horizontal stripes visible on the left side of the panel. It is visible only from a short distance

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
Take a look at the attached picture. It seems that the most important is PIN-9. I realized that the VCC is lost, after a first 2-3 seconds, when the display boots up, and shows LG logo. On the 9-th PIN must be an error signal, because a signal appears on it, after the VCC goes to 0V. It was hard to mask only the one PIN, so i decided to mask a few first pins. After this trick, it started to work.
Now the only problem is this blinking line. Any ideas how to start? Probably it may be a bad capacitor....Last edited by Panczis; 02-27-2021, 01:07 PM.

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
I'm back, with some success
I was able to run the LCD panel, so it doesn't stops anymore. What was done? I have blocked a error signal from the panel driver to the t-con board. With a scotch tape I blocked first 10 pins on the third ribbon, which connects the t-con and panel driver boards.
TV started, but I had to reset it wit a service remote control, as it was in the power only mode, after my previous actions. I'm attaching the message that was shown by the TV in this state. It shows...

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
In post #11, on the picture driver_3_1.jpg are the two ribbons that goes to the TCON. But each pair of the driver boards is connected with the mentioned "U-ribbon". You can see the connector on the pictures "driver_3_4" and "driver _4_1".
@budwich: Thanks for the hint, I will try that. I afraid, that the broken driver is the third board, so if it is a first in line, from the TCON, than it will not start until I find the fail. I thought that with two sides of the panel, when...

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
I already tried both sets, and mixed the TCONs between them, but the results is always the same. The screen disable itselfs after a LG logo, there is no menu, no other screen too. But it seems that both TCONs are accepted by both boards, so the boards and TCONs probably are fine. I have even tried with a third mainboard from the same monitor type, but the result was the same

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
No, there are no ribbons on the left/right side of the screen. All ribbons are at the bottom. There are 4 driver boards connected in a 2 pairs. To each pair there are two ribbons which goes from the TCON board.
This line on the screen is visible only when the third driver is connected. After a few power on actions, this line is not even visible with all the drivers connected, during the logo shows up. The screen unloads itself only with this 3rd board connected. Without it, it stays white, and the horizontal...

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
After disconnecting the LVDS plugs I got something like this:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/67RfTYEWNcDM6kSZ6
The screen is white at the start, and then the LCD seems to be disabled and the picture vanishing to the black
This horizontal line is in the same place, like when the LG logo appears on the startup, but now the colors are in negative.
When the third ribbon (from tcon to panel) is disconnected, than this line is not visible and the scree stays half white. I...Last edited by Panczis; 01-23-2021, 09:05 AM.

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
I just checked this F1 fuse, near the power plug on TCON. There is 13V still connected to it. It is directly connected with the power plug socket. There are 5 pins in the socket, first three are feeded with 13V, and the next two pins seems to be a ground
What should I supposed to do? Should I disconnect the power plug, and feed the F1 fuse only with 12V?Last edited by Panczis; 01-23-2021, 08:40 AM.

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
The second set works almost the same. The only difference is in the LED signals. With the original one, the LED flashes 7 times, with the boards from the TV it flashes only three times. But there is still only logo, the mosue trick doesn not work, the INSTOP too.
After disconnecting the power cords from mainboard to t-con the mainboard stays ON. The SPDIF connector lights on red.
It doesn't matter if t-con is connected or disconnected from mainboard there is still 13V.
I will try...Last edited by Panczis; 01-23-2021, 08:42 AM.

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
Yes, the remote acts now the same as before. But there is still no display on the screen after the logo, nomatter I try to do. Before it was the same, with the buttons pressing on the remote, the red diode acts with a blink. I can always power on/off, the same like before
INSTOP worked as you said. After the code, TV went to standby mode. Then I tried to power it on, and nothing changed.

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
The error seems to be still on the LCD panel driver, so I think that without removing the source of the protection mode from it, the display will not show anything. With the laptop I can see that the monitor is recognized, the resolution can be change, the refresh rate too, but it makes no difference on the screen. It is disabled, and after all the resets that I tried, at the next startup the error signal is being send again. The only moment that shows something on the screen is the LG logo on startup, than a...

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
No. I just pressed in-stop (the remote sensor led on the TV blinked), typed the code on remote (the remote sensor led on the TV blinked) and pressed in-stop again and the TV went to stand by mode. Nothing shows on the TV for all the time. No metter what I'm trying to press there is the same situation all the time. The backlit is on and there is nothing on the screen... You can see it on the movie I attached to the message #13

Re: LG 86ul3e-t logo blinks and then nothing (but backlight stays on)
I have followed your advice. With RCoid and a LG service remote I was able to send the INSTOP command, confirmed with the code 0413. TV has set itself to the standby mode. Unfortunatelly, after the power on, the whole story repeats, and there is again only a LG log, a horizontal line flash for a while, and the screen stays black.
