  • Re: Acer AL2017 no power

The setting was on 2, it can support 2, 20, 200 etc.
Appreciate the comment, think I'm in over my head here. The Rat Shack meter was free, can't complain but sounds like it's sorely outdated too.

Yup, I hear you, don't need to get killed over a 50 cent problem and that's why I was upfront about being a total novice and not comfortable in doing a live check on the board. Replacing bad cap's is another story.

Anyone know of someone in Ontario that do a repair or if one can buy an Acer power board for the LCD?

    Cheers...

Appreciate the 2 links and your own struggles with the same board.

The second link will take a bit of time to digest and will see how far I make it.

It's a bit overwhelming trying to understand all of this but I'm trying.

    Thanks again for the info...

    Hi Jetadm123.

I'm in Canada so the same voltage.

Hmmm...... after about 30 minutes I figured out how to test the round black fuse. It measured .012 ohms.

Can't say I'm anywhere comfortable in testing with live power, again a noob with a multimeter. However, with no power that big cap 150uf, 400v did test out with 166 ohms. Not sure if that helps or not.

There is a glass fuse around the middle of the board(F200) and it is not blown.

    Thanks

    Acer AL2017 no power

    Hello everyone.

A complete novice here when it comes to the electronics side of things. I have fixed 1 LCD so far and it worked first time, all thanks to reading messages on this fourm and now I have a question to ask.

I have received an Acer AL2017 that has no power whatsoever. The power button does nothing and no green or amber light comes on. Apparently the monitor was on and working, the screen flickered and then it was dead.

The power board and caps look good to me, nothing blown or bulging.

Here is a picture of the board
