Re: Samsung UN65JS8500FXZA - Screen goes black when smarthub is plugged into TV
My issue was completely different (shorted component on a buffer board). I was just pointing out that you can't rule out components based on simple tests that could show the same symptom but for very different reasons. I do not know what the final resolution of this particular problem. Perhaps post your own thread and see if you can get help from the experts....

Re: Samsung UN65JS8500FXZA - Screen goes black when smarthub is plugged into TV
It could still be the One Connect box. When the One Connect box is attached, it detects a fault in the box and proceeds to power cycle. When the One Connect cable is plugged into the TV with no One Connect box, it may react as if the One Connect box has a fault and also proceeds to power cycle. When no One Connect cable is attached, it does not call that a fault and continue to run. So you see the same reaction by the firmware, but for different reasons. So you can't rule out the One Connect...Last edited by SoftwareHack; 10-25-2020, 05:23 PM.

Re: Samsung UN60H6203AF LED TV Screen Won't Turn On
Looks like: 407 7014X 2620
I've modified (contrast, exposure, shadow) the original picture to make it a little easier to see.
Here's a previous thread trying to identify a 7014x SOIC-8 LED driver...

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
I will be replacing the diode array at some point when I feel comfortable with soldering these tiny surface mount chips. I will likely also get a few resistors of the type that showed some heating up during testing and has been identified as a possible point of failure so I am fully prepared for the next time this problem shows up. Sadly, I'm confident that this isn't a one time event. Meanwhile I need to practice my soldering techniques. When I replaced the stepper motors in my truck gauge cluster,...

So backlight and brightness were both below 1/2, but contrast was 100%. I dropped contrast down 15%.
I'll order the part and look into installing it. Maybe I can practice on a junk board first.

I saw that. I'll look at that when I believe that I can install one without messing it up.
I'll turn it down a bit when I figure out how to get the remote working again. It powers the TV on and off, but nothing else seems to work at the moment so I'm going to pair it to the TV again and see what happens.

My understanding is that it is for ESD protection.

Everybody who responded pushed me a little further into diagnosing and fixing the problem. So thanks to all.

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
I found my cheap soldering iron that I bought when I couldn't find my soldering equipment. It had a set of tips, one of which was a angled flat tip. I was able to heat up the chip enough to melt the existing solder and remove the diode array. Then cleaned it up with a wick and alcohol swab. I now have it plugged into a surge protector. This is the result! As an SF Giants fan, never been so happy to see Clayton Kershaw on the mound.
Thanks to everyone who helped me through each step,...

I was thinking along the same lines, but my mind went to my Dremel with a cutting wheel...but that's a bit more sketchy on collateral damage...

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
I see, I need to heat up the chip to get the solder to flow onto the pads that I can't access directly. I will give that a shot.

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
I do not have a thermal camera so I used the lighter fluid check to find the offending chip.
Now, my first attempt at removal is a failure. I got some flux and applied it with a toothpick, all pads covered. However, when I went to apply the solder, I could not get in tight enough to get the solder to the pads. The soldering iron tip is too wide. This chip is tiny. What are my options? Would the easiest thing to get a low end hot air reworks station? Or a sharper tip...

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
I see see what you're saying...the flex cable to the panel. I'll tape a little shield in front of it because you never know. I'm going to hold off until tomorrow and get some flux and desoldering wick. I don't want to mess this up now...I'll report the results tomorrow.

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
Is the flux necessary? I have a small container of it, but I cannot find it. Can I just use flux core solder?
The chip that needs removal is D005, near the end of the board so no flex cable to worry about.

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
Thanks. I would like to replace it, eventually, but I may need better tools to install it. My soldering iron has a pretty wide tip. I may have to go into town tomorrow to see if I can find a small tip for it.

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
With the lighter fluid test, I did see the liquid heartbeat, but only after I let it warm up several minutes before testing. The resistors also showed a much shallower heartbeat.
The diode array has a part number: 1043F7H that can't find with just a Google search. The resistors are marked 51R0 which I understand are 51.0 ohm. I figure that the resistors wouldn't be hard to find.

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
Unfortunately, I don't see any indication of the clock lines on the boards on either end of the ribbon cables. Pretty cool trick though....

Re: Samsung UN55KS800DFXZA Ver. AA02 with the seemingly common power cycling problem
Okay, I retested but I waited several minutes to allow everything to warm up a bit more than the first time I tested it. This time, I did see the "heartbeat" on D005. And a much shallower "heartbeat" on R043 and R044. (See attachment. These are the same was what Nick's TV posted.
Now, what to do about it? I'd imagine that I can remove these components with my small Weller soldering iron, but I don't have replacement parts. I'd imagine the resistors...
