    Re: HP Elitebook 840 G2

    Thanks for the suggestion.
So I removed the battery, plugged the charger and turn on the laptop.
Screen remains black and fan turn at high speed
(same if I put back the battery)
Reading the chip still brings FFFF only

Should I try to erase the BIOS chip and replace by one such as the one post#64 or it is a bad idea?...

    Re: HP Elitebook 840 G2

    Hi guys,
I am currently trying to get the BIOS dump for an Elitebook 840 from a CH341A + SOIC8 clip with AsProgrammer 1.4.1
    I have identify 2 chips, a Macronix MX25L12873 and a WINBOND 25Q16DV

I saw in previous messages that the Macronix is the main BIOS chip. Can you confirm?

When I read this one, I obtain a 16Mb file but only FFFFFF in it.

The CMOS battery is still there. Should I remove it?

Any other suggestion? Thanks for you help

    Grego

    Re: HP BIOS unlock tool

    Hi guys,
Thanks for proposing this tool and forum!
I am about to start the process for a HP EliteBook 840

Quick question: is there a Linux version of the HPUnlocker?

    Thanks
    Grego
