Re: HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation (not G2) BIOS Downgrade - (Pre-Spectre & Pre-Meltd
My laptop is fully functional. Is there a utility to flash the BIN image to BIOS without the security checks? I think this may solve the problem. Or do I have to use a progammer?
I have some experience with thinkpad lenovo t440p unlock, which involved CH341a programmer and bios dump. But I followed tutorial. I wish the process is similar with zbook...

HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation (not G2) BIOS Downgrade - (Pre-Spectre & Pre-Meltdown)
Hi, can someone please help with BIOS downgrade?
I have recently figured that the meltdown and spectre patches are taking toll on CPU. I know about grc tool but that will only fix the Windows/OS patches. The hardware ones, which are included in BIOS, will still be limiting CPU.
Currently, the laptop has BIOS version 01.47 Rev.A. I want to downgrade to 01.40 Rev.A which is from January 2018. I am pretty confident that HP had not released patches then.
All the latest & previous BIOS versions of this laptop are available here:

I received the message that the TPM is off. Should I need to do anyother steps?

FML. I am using program button to write when I just read it should be auto button. Could this be the issue?

Re: Remove_SMM... UEFI.
read file is the same. No matter how many times I try. All hashes match for each pass/try.
But the file I write and then read off the chip are different. After writing file, I read from chip to verify if the file has written successfully. In this instance, the file read and file supposed to be written dont match....Last edited by xaxex; 09-21-2020, 03:22 PM.

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
One strange thing I have noticed. When I write a ROM and then read it again, shouldn't it be same? Except it's not.
The file hashes doesn't match means the read file is changed from the file I am writing to chip.

But this works for you? It may not work for other T440p? Right?

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
It was PIA to disassemble whole laptop. The laptop hasn't been able to display anything since I flashed the patched file. Only the power key blinks. When I first flashed the patched, there were some beeps. This didn't went away despite waiting for minutes and restarting multiple times. All batteries were still removed at this point. Only gave power via adapter. It continued being blank. But then I panicked and flashed other t440p dumps on 4MB chip. This took the beep away but the display remained same i.e....Last edited by xaxex; 09-21-2020, 01:13 PM.

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
I have cleaned ME. But only after merging both 4MB & 8MB dumps as it was not opening correctly in flash tool. Now, how do I unmerge it and flash separately to 4MB & 8MB flash chips?Last edited by xaxex; 09-21-2020, 12:46 PM.

Re: LENOVO BIOS AUTO-PATCHER for Supervisor Password Removal
I have flashed it. And now there is no sound and display.
What have I tried so far:
Read dump twice and matched Sha1 hashes
Patched it and then flashed it with ch341a software. this resulted in 5 beeps and no display.
Downloaded patch of someone else from this thread and write it. The sound is gone and the display is still blank/black.
Downloaded original dump of someone else from this thread and write it. Still no change.
