Re: Vizio M701d-A3R M701D image; no backlight
I want to provide some closure to this thread. I took the Vizio to a proper tech. He determined that it was the LED backlights that had failed. For $320 he replaced the LEDs and the TV is working and looks fantastic. So... a 6 year old $2000 TV for $320! Winner! Thanks all for your help!

You are fortunate to have a means of checking your backlights. Are you thinking your problems are all caused by your power supply? I suppose with no idea if my LEDs are working, it's fairly difficult to continue?
I'm getting a good education here... that I don't know squat about what I'm looking at!
Thanks,
L...

Vizio M701d-A3R M701D image; no backlight
I was gifted this monstrous non-working 70" Vizio. The story goes that it was working flawlessly for 6 years and then one day the screen was black. "Just needs a an inexpensive board!", I was told! Bwahaha! Unfortunately my extensive internet research has not provided me an answer as to exactly which board I might replace! This particular Visio has relatively few posts on Badcaps, though there is a robust thread from throngs of owners that had the opposite problem from mine (backlight but no image) and board replacement was NOT the solution.
This TV has 3 Sharp boards...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Thanks for having me aboard. I have been a pinball repair hobbiest for 15 years or so. I have learned everything I know from similar internet forums. I have landed here because I was gifted a 70" Visio flat screen TV with problems and I am obsessed with repairing it. These seems like a fine place to find some information!
Glad to be here!
