• Re: LG TV turn off/on also ticking noise

Yeah, Looks looks something complex or just crazy.
After more research, I test PSU board like you said before using jumpers to turn on and I also use jumper to turn on backlights and they work.
I was also getting 56v at the LED+ so that was ok.

I then tested LVDS cable from mainboard to T-con, there is no 12v power going to the t-con board when the TV powers on.

I was reading how 2 transistors and a mosfet control this 12v on the mainboard to supply the T-Con board. They are Q505,...

OK, So tried an app called IRPLUS WAVE. Really clever app that allows me to use the IR Audio MOD. I then found a LG external device control PDF whcih had IR codes for some modern TV's.
I then converted the In-Stop code with a program called IrScrutinizer, so I can use with IRPLUS.

Using the IR MOD and IRPLUS, I transmitted the In-Stop code to my other LG TV and it works, goes to reset (didn't ask for code)

I then tried it on my broken TV. I tried all the codes. It still did not work

I tried the network connection, no light on my network switch or new assigned addresses listed. Tried a few cables.
I'm gonna try the LED method a few more times.

I've also got a usb to RS232 converter adapter but won't work in windows 10. I thought maybe send commands to the TV via RS232 but because there is no power to the USB socket, Toslink and ethernet, I think the RS232 won'tl work either. It seems only IR communication is working.

My phone is also LG which has a built in IR, but...

Thanks. I watched that video you linked.
What I figured out was the STOP command would only work on left channel, so it was a matter of testing and it worked on my other LG tv.

So I tried it on my broken one. I tried all the codes.
I took my time and went through the process twice.
After each set of numbers I waited a few minutes before doing again
Unfortunately it didn't work.

I'm not sure if it read the IN STOP command.

Back to square one?

Yes you're right, STOP and POWER ONLY are mono files, other two are stereo.

I created the IR hack from this guide
https://www.instructables.com/DIY-Infrared-transmitter-for-iPhone-iPod/

does that mean I don't need two LEDS but only 1 for the mono wav files?

Because in that guide I followed, the GND connection is not usedRe: LG TV turn off/on also ticking n...wo are stereo....

OK thanks for the help.

So I made the IR+audio jack hack with some old diodes as you suggested.
To test the IR hack I played wav files through my laptop and used my phone camera to see if they were getting signals.

Unfortunately the In STOP & POWER ONLY commands did not show on diodes.
The EZ START & IN START commands did show my IR.

I have another smaller LG TV, so tried the hack on it. The EZ-adjust commands worked and code 0413 also worked for it.

Plugging in, all 3.5v rails are fine

Turning on via RC:

12v rails read 11.8v
24v rails read 24.1v
3.5v rails read 3.5v as before.

So far so good? (12v rails being 11.8v)

Good suggestions. There is no light from the Toslink port and plugging in a USB flash drive, it's indicator light does not flash. I also tried the USB drive whilst plugged in before turning on. Nothing.

I have uploaded images of the two main boards.

I had taken off the heatsink myself, to check where the sound was coming from and see if the CPU gets warm, very slight only.

Indeed you are right, just some sponge type pads that sit underneath heatsink...

• LG TV turn off/on also ticking noise

Hi all, I searched through the forums before posting.
My LG LW650T suddenly stopped working a few days ago, and although I've started the search to replace it as it was old, the picture quality was good and would love to repair if possible to use elsewhere and save some electrical waste.
I gave it to a local repair place who said he would do some basic checks, and reflow it, but it never worked so didn't charge me.

The fault is:
Press the power on via remote.
I hear the relay and power LED turns on.
The other control LED's cycle on/off as per...

hi.....Automatic gain, which device?

• Frequency measurement

I have a old JBL car amplifier that has electronic HP/LP crossover with pots.
Now, the pots don't have any increment markings, just 32-320Hz variable.
I would like to set these at around 100Hz in HP, as close as possible, so the front component speakers don't play that frequency.

I don't have a Oscilloscope but apparently my Uni-T multimeter can read frequencies. So, I sent 100Hz test tones via phone app, measured the output on the amp and it reads 100Hz. I sent 1Khz and 10Khz and it measured correctly, all in Flat position. Great I thought.

I then switched...

• Re: Car amp, headunit and crossovers

Yes, Stj. Apparently, it's a common repair.
My later model pioneer (got stolen), was motorised, used a different connection

Well, all the caps seem ok.
Just tested all the frequencies coming through with test tones.
Apparently my MM can read frequency 0-20khz
Whether the character of the sound has changed, I suppose so, but thats subjective.

Just looking at an external crossover now.

Though Ive seen this too

Of course, not...

Just learnt that the High pass filter on the amp isn't working. It's sending all the frequencies through. I'll have to check why.

I generally agree to that too. It's just that, as I'm setting up a fresh, and the age of the equipment, I thought a good service would be useful after putting in the effort of installing.

I looked into the pioneer unit, there are no bulging caps and most are panasonic m series, with 2 being elna branded. I couldn't say if they have deteriorated, but I'd say some would have, whether it effects the sound. I'm not an expert on that.
Haven't had chance to disassemble the amp yet....

Hi Retro-Hipster, thanks fro chiming in.

I don't have either, esr meter or oscilloscope unfortunately. Just a standard multimeter, that does read capacitance.

Thats good advice, I will investigate the capacitor brands used.
My guess is that the JBL amp will have middle to low quality caps, whilst the pioneer has some decent ones as they were top of the range units in their hay day. Then again I could be totally wrong.
As the pioneer is 20+ years old, used in variable climate conditions,...

• Car amp, headunit and crossovers

Hi all, I would greatly appreciate some technical advice.

I have acquired an old Pioneer car cassette HU - KEH-P8600R , which I plan to install (from around late 90's). It works fine, but my question is, due to its age, is it worth replacing the caps, even though its functioning fine?

Secondly, I have a JBL amp, GTO75.4. Sonically, not the greatest but has served me well for more than a decade to run a sub and front component speakers. Again, it's working ok but is it worth replacing some caps. Would I gain anything?

And thirdly, I have some component...

• Re: Panasonic SC-BT230 Blu-ray Home Cinema

At the moment, I'm not having that issue though perhaps I should check it out.
I have just changed the two caps mentioned previously and the problem still exists.

I went back to disconnecting the ribbon cable from the logic board to the amp board and as before the unit stays on. I can explore all menus etc.
As I was playing around, I inserted a dvd. The read prompts on screen/display then immediately freezes, loosing the hdmi connection.
Does not respond to unit buttons or remote.

I've just found a thread on here referring to what you've also stated.

Hi all, cannot believe this thread still going. I'm the OP.
Never found a fix for mine. Just piled up for another day.

Side not: non of the PSU caps look blown or other caps that I ca visually tell.
This F61 is so prevalent, I cannot believe panny don't know about it.
