Re: Lg 42" plasma model p2pc3d-ud
I am wondering if its possible to buy the jig off you or for me to send you my board for re-programming.
I had a rt-42px11 with a blown IPM on the YSUS board. Replaced the board and now I have a bad case of the green sparkles.

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
Well after a bit more diagnosing I think the IPM on this board had blown. As you pointed out the component level repair is not really worth it when you look at the cost of a replacement board. I was able to obtain a reworked YSUS board and have fitted it - and the problem is gone!!! Display is heaps better and its even watchable now.
The only problem is now I have a case of the green sparkles....

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
Got a chance today to get some new fuses of suitable type. Installed and powered on TV. The fuse did not blow and the picture is the same.
So my theory is something is crook on one of the SUS boards (leaning towards the Y as this is where the fuse blew). When the responsible component died it took out the fuse but now that that component is dead the fuse will not blow again as this part is open circuit.
Is it possible to do a component level repair on this board?

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
I am with you 100% here - I cannot understand why its still working at all?
I checked all fuses on all boards both in circuit and out of circuit with a DVM and this ones totally open circuit. (the others are all fine) I checked it twice because I figured I must have made a mistake first time round.
But the original owner did say he switched it on one morning and heard a loud crack come from the TV and then the off picture as a result. I cannot see any other visible physical...

Ok I will go with the slow blow fuse unless you think its not suitable...

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
Yeh the research I have done tells me that you can adjust the voltage to try and fix that but there is actually a firmware upgrade for the controller which changes the drive waveform and this fixes the problem permanently. The issue arrises as the actual plasma tube wears....

I looked at the caps and thought the same as you as all 4 are bulged by exactly the same amount. (whats the chance of that) The top of the cap is depressable reasonably easy to flat and they look a little bulged on the sides.
I am going to look and see if in my research I can see a pic of a YSUS (eg. on eBay to get an idea if they are all like this and hence nothing to worry about)...

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
Next question - does anyone know or can they confirm what the spec is of the fuses on the YSUS board.
It has T4.0AH 250v or T2.0AH 250v printed next to the fuse holder. Which based on visual characteristic implies a 4A ceramic fuse.
I guess something like the following would be suitable - can anyone confirm?

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
That was actually the last guy. My TV is the same model and exhibits the same symptoms but has the problem continuously.
Also I discovered the YSUS fuse is blown (tested with DVM) so I guess its not running at all.
Did an inspection and the largest power caps seem to be bulging on the top so they definately need replacing on both the ysus and zsus boards.
Question is has the buffers or anything else on the YSUS board been damaged.
I am a bit confused as I thought...

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
I have checked over the whole chassis and inspected each board on both sides and all looks good physically. I cannot see any missing components, burn marks, heat effected PCB or obvious dry joints etc....
I have noticed that the large black capacitors are rounded on top - I guess they are not meant to be like this? (see attached photo) All other caps look fine.
Checked all the fuses and all is good except the fuse on the YSUS board has blown.
The question is could I still...Last edited by JasonC; 11-28-2011, 10:56 PM.

Re: lg rt-42px11 plasma, picture starts fine....then goes crazy!
What luck that I should find a thread discussing the exact fault in the same model of device that I am currently trying to fix....
I have same model of TV which someone has asked if I can take a look at for them. Almost exactly the same symptoms but probably not quite as extreme. (see attached photos - they are not the best as they are a bit yellow but it gives you an idea)
Was the original fault in this thread ever found as I would be VERY interested if it was.
Background...

Re: Benq FP71G+ Q7T4
I know how I hate finding a forum thread with a reported problem but no followup result so:
I would just like to report that it was indeed the tubes which were crook. I was able to obtain some replacement tubes from eBay which fixed the problem.
I would however say that if you are considering doing this get the tubes with the cables attached as soldering very thin CCFL and associated wires is a hassle and its very easy to snap them.
You do however need to be careful as the rubber endcaps do differ...

Re: Benq FP71G+ Q7T4
Here are the pics of the spare display panel I have. If these ccfl tubes are compatible then it might be an easy way to test.
Also if anyone can identify the controller PCB or know of any way I can drive this panel feel free to chip in. I do have the mainboard it plugs into but there is nothing relevant on it really. The socket it plugs into is labeled AGP1. The mainboard is a LPC-845G. (Not looking to fix it as the main body of the kiosk has been ditched)...

Re: Benq FP71G+ Q7T4
The other panel that I have is a LM170E01(A5). There is also another barcode with number 6091L-0163C and 040320NGSP on it and a ccfl warning.
The ccfl high voltage leads are the same on both this panel and the BenQ monitor panel.
The panel comes from a kiosk PC which had a bad mainboard. The mainboard was not repairable easily and no spares were available (it was only a celeron anyway) The panel was driven by a custom mini-PCI board (might be AGP actually). The panel itself is fine but I don't have any logic to drive it. It has...

Re: Benq FP71G+ Q7T4
I checked out this thread (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7565) and then decided it would be a good idea to get a look at the ccfl tubes in my panel.
See attached photos.
I have noticed that they have a small amount of blackening at the opposite end to the leads which I am guessing is not good.
So can one faulty tube cause the whole inverter for all 4 tubes to shutdown? - because that would explain my issue - and hence the PSU suppliers protection override might be a sensible troubleshooting...

Re: Benq FP71G+ Q7T4
I agree it is unlikely for 3 PSU to be faulty. (I guess the only chance of this is if the original IS faulty and both of the replacements are NOT new like the seller said they were but he says he has had no problems with other sales. Also another PSU purchased from this supplier for a different model monitor fixed the problem instantly and its still going strong 2 weeks later.
I have attached photos of the logic board but I would have thought it strange for this to be an issue if the 1st replacement PSU ran the monitor for around 40hrs before...

Benq FP71G+ Q7T4
I have a Benq FP71G+ model Q7T4 which I am having some problems repairing.
The original symptoms are when the monitor is switched on the Benq splash screen appears and then the LCD displays the computer signal for around 2 seconds before going blank. The power light remains green. If I power cycle the monitor then the same symptoms repeat.
I have checked out a bunch of threads on this forums about similar issues but in most cases even though the LCD monitor & model were the same the PSU board is of a different design.
I have limited electonic diagnostic...
