Re: viewsonic vx2835wm no power
I'm working on a Viewsonic VS11257-1M I believe it is the 27" model. TV would not power on at all. I bought a cap replacement kit for the power supply because two 1500uf caps were swollen on the secondary side of the supply. After replacing the caps the TV still does not turn on. Will be testing voltages and looking at the mainboard to see if I can spot anything. Thanks Plainbill for the Service Manual link, although the troubleshooting is rather simplified it does show the board voltages.

Re: MSI-7207 (K8NGM2-L) version 1.0
I found this model on ebay. It's around 86 bucks, do you think this is a good unit?

Re: E-machine T6420 MSI MS-7207 Motherboard
I replaced the caps next to the cpu already but that seemed to make things worse as now it does not boot at all. Do I need to get liquid flux to do the chipset reflows? I have never done a reflow before.

Re: E-machine T6420 MSI MS-7207 Motherboard
I'm also working on a MS-7207 K8NGM2 motherboard which used to start sometimes. After replacing the five 3300uF 6.3 volt caps next to the cpu socket it now just spins the fans and no post beep or video. The caps were swollen badly at the tops so that is why I replaced them. I can't afford to buy another board right now because they raised my house insurance $5,000 a year. I do not know what to check next. Does anyone think that the bios would have something to do with this problem? I can post photos later if needed. Thanks

Re: how-to solder SMD capacitors
This looks like something I could use, now all they need is a little vacuum cup that comes down and lifts the chip up....

Re: Vizio VW42lHDTV10A no pix, no sound, won't turn off
Well I finally located the correct service manual for my Visio VX42LHDTV10A and I found another bad chip, the U6 chip (which is an AP1513 stepdown converter according to Digikey) On pin #2 I get 1.6 volts instead of the required 1.8 volts. I'm wondering if maybe one of the failing other "U" chips may have something to do with it. That all came right after I placed the order on Digikey so now I have to either find one locally or place another order. I did not trust the first manual anyway because it was not for this...

Re: Vizio VW42lHDTV10A no pix, no sound, won't turn off
I'm stuck on one chip Bill, it is U10. I took a much better photo of it so you can read the numbers. I looked on Digikey but there are many different voltages. I'm assuming the 07 stands for the output voltage but 0707GL does not make sense to have 7 volts out and in to me. Please take a look as I am on hold here with the order. Re: LG model RU-23LZ21 blowing inverter fuse
You know I had a funny feeling that the fuse was a slow blow with all the high voltages and switching going on. The local electronics supplier did not even know WHAT kind of fuses that had in stock for a replacement. That is probably why they sold me in-line fast-acting pico fuses in the first place. Is there any other things that you think I might check on this board before ordering from Digikey? I'm off to get my gas tank filled, hope the price is still at $3.45 Thanks for the help Bill

Re: Vizio VW42lHDTV10A no pix, no sound, won't turn off
Thanks Plainbill, without your knowledge and experience there would certainly be no hope for most of us here. I do know about the manufacturer difference on the first letters of the part. I got confused reading the manual becuase it was for a slightly different TV model (and there are changes). Could that be the reason why some of the same parts have different prices on them as well?
The ZLDO1117GDICT input voltage is 2.7 - 18 volts while the AP1117EGDICT-ND is 6.4 - 18 volts. The manual I have did not even say to check...

Re: Vizio VW42lHDTV10A no pix, no sound, won't turn off
From the manual for the VL42HDTV10A the U9 is listed as the same chip as the U7 but on my board they have different numbers. someone mentioned that this U9 is fixed and not adjustable so I looked up the U7 on Digikey and filtered the search for fixed instead of adjustable and here is what I got.

Re: Vizio VW42LFHDTV10...Brother Mikes TV...mainboard woes
Can't locate that U9 chip anywhere, in the manual it's listed as a AP1117E18LA but that does nothing on Digikey.

Re: LG model RU-23LZ21 blowing inverter fuse
There are more than one of these type SI4532 driver chips on digikey. I'm assuming the more expensive one is the best to get.http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=SI4532Re: LG model RU-23LZ21 blowing inverter fuse

Re: LG model RU-23LZ21 blowing inverter fuse
Hello Bill, The fuse has an Le 4A on it and it is white ceramic looking about 1/4" long and 1/8" high. I beleive it is made by Littlefuse but I do not know if it is fast or slowblow. there are no other surrounding markings on the inverter board. And that's what I get for not proofreading right? Thanks

Re: LG model RU-23LZ21 blowing inverter fuse
I might as well order all twelve divider chips, I would like to find out what type of fuse it takes but the service manual does not list it because it is on the inverter board. It is the SMD fuse under the pico fuse shown in my first photo....

Re: Vizio VW42lHDTV10A no pix, no sound, won't turn off
Looked up k1117s15 on the digikey site and got nothing, I wonder if it can be replaced with this one?
