• Re: HP Compaq Model CQ3430AN bios bin file

Thanks very much for the help. I flashed the bios with the file you supplied and it did come up with an error at the end of the flash procedure. "main memory and contents are in disagreement" I was using a CH341A programmer with a 1.8v adapter and software version 1.34. The Compaq bios chip is a MXIC - MX25V8006E 2.5v. I had to use one of those usb video microscopes to read the surface of the eprom. I didn't purchase the real cheap one on eBay but one with a full HD resolution. They are very handy little gadgets....

  • HP Compaq Model CQ3430AN bios bin file

    Hi Everyone,

I was hoping some kind individual could provide a copy of the bios bin file for this desktop computer. I have a CH341A eprom burner. I managed to read the file and copy it back again, however, this did not fix it. The computer powers up but won't boot so the bios update program is of no use to me.

The full details of the particular model are: Compaq Presario CQ3430AN

I am attempting to repair this piece of junk for a friend of mine.

I told my friend to NEVER buy such a piece of junk in the future. HP Compaq support is virtually...

    Dell BIOS Password Hack

From reviewing some of the Forum Threads here I see that quite a few members are having trouble removing passwords from the BIOS.

I found a program, with instructions, written by a Russian Hacker some years ago. I haven't used the program myself as I haven't needed to use it. I kept the program for possible future use.

It would appear that some individuals are selling the use of this program on places like eBay. It is highly likely it is the same hack program. The Russian hacker called himself "HPGL". He even supplied the source code for the program. I know...

started a topic Changing Dell Asset Tag

    Changing Dell Asset Tag

I have dug through my Dell utilities and located an old Dell Engineer's program which changes the Dell Asset Tag. I have used this SUITE of programs in the past to amend the Asset Tag on second hand motherboards I have installed.

I don't know if it works with the newer Dell laptops. You should use extreme caution in using these programs. As you can see the program is fairly old one.

Here are the instructions from the README file:

    [I]SVCTAG.EXE

    **********************************************************

    Hi All Members,

I am new to this forum having only located it about two days ago. My name is Des and I am from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I am a retired Public Servant and will be 73 years old in November.

My first introduction to Computers was in late 1970. For a short time I was a Computer Operator. The machine was an ICL 1904A mainframe Computer. It consisted of two 16K (yes that's 16K) Computers strapped together giving a total of 32K memory. The Memory in that era consisted of tiny iron...

Re: Dell xps 13 9350 bios bin

Does anyone know what the UART connector adjacent the bios chip on the Dell XPS 13 9350 motherboard is for? It appears to be a Dell engineer's method of flashing the bios on a dead motherboard. I have three of these boards in non working computers. I haven't pulled them completely apart as yet in order to get the Dell part numbers as yet.
I have searched Google extensively in order to identify the plug which connects to this UART connector but haven't found one as yet. It is a 4 pin connector.
I did manage to cut a ribbon cable in two with...
