You were right. The update did not change anything. The idle desktop of W10 draws around 16W, battery detached, with internal disk.

Thanks. I was surprised about the very high temps. Never had a device getting above 95 degrees celsius in memtest86+. Now I tested a Dell E5530 in the same way and got BIOS 24,5 W, memtest86+ 35-40W at 62 degrees, and Mint 24W.
I have ordered a battery and will report in case the BIOS update helps to lower the power consumption.

Dell 5591 overheating in memtest86+ but cool running Linux Mint - What causes this?
This machine comes with the i7-8850H, no internal drive and no battery installed, the bottom cover removed, an original Dell power supply is used. I just installed 8GB RAM, ran memtest86+ and noticed a power draw of about 40-50W. Accordingly within minutes the temperature went up to just below 100 degrees with the fan spinning wildly. Same thing when I enter the BIOS (1.20.0), around 40W power draw.
Next thing I tried was an install stick with Linux Mint on it. Initially I am also at around 40W but with idle desktop (Xfce) it draws just 6,5W. Is this a BIOS issue? Version 1.34 is...

Acer z5wah la-b161p - What causes dead touchpad?
I have two of these devices here. The first had been working without any issues and the second came with a dead touchpad. To figure out if there is a problem with the board or with the touchpad itself I cross swapped the keyboard/touchpad unit on both devices and none of the touchpads worked. Unfortunately, aber swapping back the keyboard/touchpad unit the touchpads on both devices failed (also tested with Ubuntu).
There are no fuses on the board and I could not see any damage under the microscope. I get the 3V_PTP on the U2507 (p28). How would you diagnosed this issue?...

Probable cause of 2 vertical bars each 160px wide?
This is the Iiyama Prolite X2474HS, a 24" display with fullHD. It turns on and the backlight looks okay, but then there are 2 vertical bars each 160px wide.
This affects the on screen menu as well as when a source signal is present (independend from the port used).
I inspected the logic board under the microscop but did not find anything suspicious. Solder joints flat cables at the panel, connectors look fine, and show no response to pressure. There is one big chip with 128 pins (TSUMOP88CT9-1) I could not find a datasheet or any other information for. I assume this...
