Re: asus gl703gs detecting short
Hi,
I did remove battery before.
I will try with lab power supply, but as i mentioned when i plug the adapter on first mosfet on drain i have 19,3V. Source is a problem...its dropping 9v, 6v, 3v, 0v....on both power mosfets. To my understanding that means that power main controller is closing source by cutting gate....?
I did replace both mosfets but its the same.Last edited by prow; 07-07-2021, 05:07 AM.

asus gl703gs detecting short
I have this motherboard from the title, there is no schematic or boardview.
When i apply the adapter nothing happens, no lights, only little buzzing noise but adapter is not going to protection mode. Later i check and on first power mosfet there is 19,3 v but later nothing (it is not opening)....Then i check again and every time i apply the adapter it will open the second power mosfet but voltage is just droping...9v...6v...3v...0v
So, i believe the power main controller is closing power mosfets and going to protection mode because ther is a short somewhere in lower power lines?...Last edited by prow; 07-07-2021, 02:08 AM.

signal measure points, yellow numbers?
Hi to all, maybe a stupid question but i am new here and tried to learn regarding motherboard repars..
So, the question is regarding repair guides for laptops. For instance i attached pdf regarding asus g752vl repair. I did understand most of the guide but what puzzles me is section Signal Measure Points (last two pages). I understand that those are signals that needs to be checked..and with red number it is described what is a sequence in time.... what singal comes first and what last. But what are those yellow numbers? for instance AC_BAT_SYS number is 436? is that resistence in ohm?...

Re: Noob ohm low question
Update.... so i checked on the motherboard and i have 0.01 ohm (10m Ohm) current sense resistor and i have drop in voltage across ressistor by 0.01 V. So if i use ohm calculator the current is 1 A. Is this correct?

Re: Noob ohm low question
I think i understand...if i check voltage on "current sense resistor" of lets say 0.05 ohm before and after...i can calculate the current?
hmm but how? lets say the difference is 0.2 V?

Re: Noob ohm low question
I understand. Is there any way i can measure resistance while laptop is on? without risking destroying equipment...

Re: Noob ohm low question
Thank you...one more question...is it safe to measure resistence with multimeter while power adapter connected?

Re: Noob ohm low question
So, you are saying when checking with multimeter (no power adapter) the resistence is 143 kOhm, but when i apply 19V adapter and because there are many active devices that resistence will not be 143 kOhm but much lower?

Re: Noob ohm low question
thx for answer...but probably i was not clear...What i was saying is if i have 19.2 V and 143 Kohm resistence i should have somewhere near 0,13 mAmps according to the ohm low? A=V/R = 19,2 V/143 kOhm ? But that doesnt seem right?
Or i am figured something wrong?

Noob ohm low question
Hi,
I have a very basic question...regarding ohm low on motherboards. So, lets say i have laptop and 19,2v power adapter and on AC main net on the board i have 143 Kohm resistence to the ground. When i plug adapter i can check with multimeter and i have 19,2 V on ac main net. If i am not calculating something wrong i should have 0,13 mAmps ? But that doesnt seem right? Or?
ThxLast edited by prow; 07-15-2020, 03:03 AM.
