Re: LG W2243T-PF buzzes and shuts down a few times, then goes black
For the sake of completion, I investigated why 1/6 of the LCD panel wasn't addressed vertically. Therefore I accessed the LCD panel itself with the bonded panel driver board. This board has 6 ribbon connections to the LCD panel. On each of these ribbon connections there is a tiny piece of silicon (demux IC?). For the defective part of the panel this tiny circuit was broken in the middle and getting very hot. Thus no regrets the monitor is returning where it came from years ago: the local dump.

Re: LG Flatron W2243S-PF monitor shuts off after 3 seconds with high pitch noise
I would give it a try but I now see that 1/6 of the screen (right, vertically) is not properly addressed, no image and vertical lines. I guess either the TCON card or 1 of the connections to the LCD panel is defective. There is therefore not much to do with this unit. I will take the PSU put of it for the capacitors but that's all. My purpose was to identify the origin of the problem and I succeeded. But in this case the repair failed. No worry I still have a couple of candidates for repair in my b...

Re: LG W2243T-PF buzzes and shuts down a few times, then goes black
Well, yes it is indeed possible. However, it would require a nearly hand-made replacement. For instance the replacement would have to fit mechanically, optically and electrically. I have a couple of LED backlight systems taken from TV or monitor sets and none would fit my LG 2243.

Re: LG W2243S close to dead...
And this is the end of the story: one of the CCFL is dead , one end is black and broken, see attached picture, therefore the 2 seconds to blank. If I find a replacement I'll give it a try. But the CCFLs break just by looking at them.......

Re: LG W2243S close to dead...
I wanted to thank you guys. 3 years later. I took the monitor out of the basement....ans started from the scratch the repair procedure. Then I discovered my own thread.
I have cleaned the carbon residues and I have now the following behaviour: Splash screen (LG) appears. The inverter transformer whistles faintly A vertical part of the display (20 %) is not properly addressed (no image, vertical lines). Splash screen disappears after 2 seconds then a black screen. 5 seconds later there are 2 horizontal lines of look like smileys dancing...

Re: LG W2243T-PF buzzes and shuts down a few times, then goes black
Hi guys,
I know this thread is old, but I give it a try anyway. Did you solve your problem? I have about the same issue with a very similar monitor (change the T to a S in the model number). I guess the transformer is dead: I measure 0 ohms for the primary windings. It seems a bit low to me, isn't it?

Re: LG Flatron W2243S-PF monitor shuts off after 3 seconds with high pitch noise
Hi,
I am making some progress. Voltages 5V and 28V are present at the output of the corresponding Schottky diodes. The primary winding of the CFFL transformer, has 0 ohms, measured on the board. That is bad. Either the transformer is dead or the driving circuit (the plugin board).....

Re: LG Flatron W2243S-PF monitor shuts off after 3 seconds with high pitch noise
Yes I had checked that. The unit draws about 6W when powered on. Not much I am afraid. I have read the 2 sec to blank scree post. I am afraid that the transformer might be bad. BTW I had started another topic for this issue. And many thanks for your answer.

Re: LG Flatron W2243S-PF monitor shuts off after 3 seconds with high pitch noise
Hello MsG,
did you solve your problems with this monitor? I have similar issues with the same model, but in my case the backlight is turned off after 0,5s. I did the same as you , I replaced the caps, it didn't help. CCFLs are OK as I have tested the unit with different CCFLs and the same problem arises. Thus the transformer is a good guess but not worth purchasing anew, I suppose.
Did you notice that the service manual you attached is for this model but refers to different electronic...

Re: Dell E197FPf - Colors Faint, White Washed Glare, Slight Ghosting - W/Pictures
Yep. Here are the pictures. As you see, a clean and neat board. Of course the board was connected to the 230V AC when I measured the voltages.
After a summary check the MOSFET Q850 doesn't seem to be dead - no obvious short-circuit from drain to gate-....

Re: Dell E197FPf - Colors Faint, White Washed Glare, Slight Ghosting - W/Pictures
No nothing : AP1506 doesn't even get Vin on pin 1....Actually the switching power supply doesn't switch. The only voltage is the rectified mains voltage on C854 ( 100microF, 450V). Either the SPS driving circuit U850 (SG5841SZ) or the MOSFET Q850 is/are dead. ...or...
I have found another posting relating to a similar monitor:

Re: Dell E197FPf - Colors Faint, White Washed Glare, Slight Ghosting - W/Pictures
Hello IC00001,
I am aware your posting is nearly 5 years old but I would be interested in the results for your monitor Dell E197FPf because I have the same on my desk right now. It was also destined to local dump. The lady who gave it to me told me it ceased functioning during a storm. For the moment it is completely dead. I just checked the fuse F850 which is OK. I guess it was damaged by a voltage surge. Do you have the corresponding schematics by any chance?
Any suggestion...
