Hi,

I saw you post in regards to replacing the troublesome RB805 resistors in the SM245BW.
Are you able to tell me where you sourced the RES W/W 5W 68R resistors that you used for your repair.

Also is this monitor still going strong?

It works. Can't tell you what happiness this has brought. No longer have to use my spare 20" Belinea. Many many thanks to you all, you have provided me with a fix for £2 - £3 where Samsung would have charged me £130. BTW the resistors I bought first were way too large to fit on the board so I went to some 68R 2.5W ones with long leads and they were perfect even with some dubious soldering.

• Re: Dell Studio XPS 16 Notebook Blue Screen Trouble

This could possibly be a problem with your hard drive drivers not responding within 10 seconds of return from hibernate and the system resume times out, hence a blue screen.

Good news is Microsoft have a hotfix for this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977178

Give it a go and let me know.Re: Dell Studio XPS 16 Notebook Blue... system resume

Thanks for the help, I have ordered some RES W/W 5W 68R with a maximum operation temp of 250 degrees celsius, there were others I nearly bought with a max temp of 70 but guessed that seeing that my old ones burnt out a higher operation temp might be a better option, they also have standoffs for better heat dissipation. Anyone In UK looking for these resistors please feel free to contact me direct and I'll happily share where I got them (as if I'm right forum rules do not allow me to say??). Will post back once job is completed. I can't promise any photos...

Hi, found your site after googling my Samsung 245B problem, and what a find. I'm from an IT background, worked in the trade for 20 years now from desktop support to Network Implementation but nothing gets me going like taking something to bits and fixing it myself, an open machine of any description in our office is like honey to bees, 7 or 8 people swarming round one desk because hardware is infinitely more fun than software. As you can tell I'm still a technician at heart.

I have the dreaded blue power light on and black screen scenario. Originally I was going to buy the whole power board until I found this site, now with your expert guidance I am going to replace the RB 805,6,7 resistors as mine are shockingly burnt out. I just wanted to clarify that they are 68R 5W power resistors and nothing else, no special markings etc?

I can solder but have never done so on such an expensive item so having built up the courage to do it, I'd just like some reassurance that I am using the correct parts. Also many many...
