No, Ive destroyed the connection on the board, not the ribbon cable. None of the white plastic is attached to the board anymore.Leave a comment:

So it lifts up on a hinge, you slide the ribbon cable in and then clamp it down, into locked position?

I am trying to get the ribbon cable reattached to the menu control board.
I dont know if it came off properly, or how to get it reattached. Ive never seen this type of connection, either.

Hello.
I am having trouble reassembling my Gateway 2485w, after replacing bad caps on the power supply.
I am going to post up pics and describe my problem, and hopefully someone who has already done this repair can help.
