    Wow... like a 90's 3D picture of a dolphin :-)

Up to now the BV files I've used, the perimeter reflected the board shape in reality - so I just saw a rectangular ish board that looked wrong.

Now to grab the meter and scope...

Really appreciate your help, learning stuff is awesome...

I've removed the board from the laptop, on the reverse it has:

    DAX12AMB6D0 Rev: D

I have searched and downloaded BV files for many hits on this board number and they all appear the same (wrong) board... not the one in my hands.

Has the manufacturer re-used the part numbers? Or am I missing something really obvious ;-)...

    Thanks SMDFlea

I downloaded this earlier today, the BV layout is not the same as the board I'm presented with.

This HP board appears to be designed for various 14"-17" variants with pads for graphics chips and SSD chips.

I've attached a image of the board. Perhaps there are more identifiers on the rear of the board. I was resisting dismantling further till I had more detail.

    Thanks for any guidance....

    started a topic HP 15-ab269sa X12A

    HP 15-ab269sa X12A

motherboard has part no: 836098-601 label

laptop dead, 21.2v on the board by PSU connector, but I can see visual discolouration on what I think are open SMD resistors.

Laptop vents, fan and CPU heatsink congested with fluff - possible overheating.

Searched high and low for the schematics and boardview files to no avail.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi, I'm David... based in south west UK. I studied as a electronics engineer back in the 80's designing and building boards. Then I became more CAD design in aero industry, then IT software engineer, and for the last 10 years as an independant IT consultant/engineer/wifi installer (well I get a lot of fun out of IT, so I find it hard to say no) - but I'm fed up of throwing good gear away just becuase a board is dead. So I got out my tools, grabbed myself a rework station, electronic microscope and a small ultrasonic tank to clean...
