Dell XPS 13 9310 2 amber 4 white memory failure

I have this laptop a dell XPS 13 9310

got given an xbox one x as dead, no pressure to fix as has been replaced and owner doesn't want it back

symtoms: press power button, white light, beep on and off almost immediately

checks:[LIST][*]dead short on MEMIO test pad (doubt this is good but I don't have another board to compare against) injected voltage 1v nothing showing on thermal[*]checked under thermal during power on only slight heat in SB, everything else front and back of board cold[*]no shorts on any other test pads MEMPHY etc[*]has standby 1.1v, 1.8v, 3.3v, 5v[*]psu good has 12v[*]no 12v rail short[*]no...

Yes tested for shorts + continuity from caps near apu to encoder and from encoder through filters to hdmi. Small cap at hdmi not missing....

Hdmi port changed and encoder for known good one still the same.

Wondering if my issue is at the apu based on these voltages?...

Measured values of the hdmi pins against known good values. All good. Replaced hdmi encoder and still no change. Also checked traces from apu to encoder and they’re all good too. Not sure what else to try if anyone has any ideas?

Weird problem. I've got a ps5 disc with no display however the console gets to a solid white light and appears to be boot fine and getting to safe mode without any issue (getting to safe mode blind, I've got a recording of the menus from another ps5)

So far I've replaced the HDMI port as it did look like one of the pins had broken however that wasn't the case and it was the plastic of the hdmi port sitting at an angle out of place. I checked the original port for shorts and found none but I haven't checked the new one (I'll do this when I disassemble it again).

no green light when attempting to power on
only the single white light flash when holding the power button for around 10-15s

3.3 and 5 do come up after the power is pressed. I'll check the bios volts but I'm not actually sure which is the main board bios. I've posted an image above of 3 that are likely candidates.

the 3r030 is inline with a 20v circuit that loops around the board, various components pull from it though and convert to lower voltages. I do hope it hasn't destroyed everything but can't...

Lol politicians!. I may try the bios at some point this week because I cannot find anything else that is wrong. It appears all the power rails are operational but the machine refuses to start and appears dead. I will backup before hand and find an alternative bios to write. Reader wise I have a CH341A. I'll have to check if this supports the bios ICs I have.

Is the IC to the left of the battery is the bios? I see two others around the PCH.

One side note, bit of a long shot. Could a corrupt bios be causing a failure to power on? Behaviour when attempting power on is nothing happens at all. No fan spin when plugged in, no activity when power button pressed. Holding the power button for an extended period causes the charging led to flash white, once.

Thanks for the info. I do fear this might be the case as usually once the 3.3, 5 and 20v rails are active things are looking up. This is the first Razer I've worked on where these rails have been active yet the machine won't power on. Re the resistance measurements between coils near the cpu/pch and ground I have previously done the same measurements on other Razer blades and the resistance has been very low (almost seeming like a fault) yet those laptops have worked fine. I am guessing possibly because they are very low impedance lines?...

Hi all

Repairing a 2020 Razer blade advanced, 10th gen intel + 2080 max q. Originally had a destroyed charging port (soldered to the board type) which I've replaced and then found out it was missing the 20v rail which loops around the board.

Found a 3r030 mosfet which was shorted gate to drain so replaced that and now have 20v rail, 3.3v, 5v but still unable to power on successfully.

When powering on there's no activity at all. The PCH gets hot but nothing else. At this point I gave up last night to attempt again today with fresh eyes.

Hi all

I have an xbox one s which looks to have been water damaged and can't stay powered on. Powers on for a second with a light + beep then powers off.

I've removed as much of the water damage as possible.

I have 1.1v, 1.8v, 3.3v, 5v, 12v rails

All 3 power fet rails are good and each fet tests ok, this includes the two behind the front panel connector.

I've checked ports for damage leading to possible shorts.

All large inductors + any small ones I can find for shorts but found none.

I've tested all...

found out it was one of the small caps below one of the mosfets which had gone bad, replaced it for another and it's back up an running

powers on + beeps briefly for a second displaying a blue light then powers back off
[LIST][*]checked all fuses ok [*]checked for voltages, found 12v, 5v, 3.3v, 1.8v (I am not 100% sure where to successfully check for all)[*]started checking each inductor ohms to ground, all ok apart from a 1R5 near the DCIN, shorted 0.3ohms[*]checking components around the inductor appears a small plane on the front of the board is shorted progressing through to a plane on the rear side[*]surrounding circuits not on this plane are not affected[*]I have check caps around the board in each various circuit...

Yea it’ll be difficult. You might have to go over the same side a few times until the whole back starts to free off....

yea they are half circles, try to use something thinner at one end and thicker at the other.

sadly, to start, you have to just push it in (carefully as you can). Once inside, you can lever upwards to start detaching the back cover. It will be loud as it comes off, sounds like you're breaking it. Only advice is to be careful :/ and when you get to the corners where the adhesive is, open the gap wide enough to shine a light inside so you can see the adhesive and cut with...
