Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
I would like to thank all of you for your inputs and patience working with me. There are several other people experiencing the same problem and it would have been nice to have fixed this so they too could repair theirs. I am in the process of trying to locate a new semiconductor, but not having too much luck. Not many company's just want to sell you one without charging a ridiculous price.

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
Can you tell me where I can purchase one. Is there a chance that I have done other damage to the board. Is there a chance that this part was causing the other parts to fluctuate....

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
Question, when testing D110 and D120, should I have power to the board?
If so D110 is reading .485 & OL. D120 is .002 & .002...

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
The test is over for the FSC part. Shorted out the part when testing pin1 & 2! Before that pin 2 & 3 was fluctuating between 8 and 11.
Before that happened D110 was reading .483 and OL. Part D120 was reading .480 & OL.
Where do I go from here?

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
A) I cannot find a R104. I have a R101(near big cap), 102, 113, & 114.
B) Have not tested yet but D110 looks bad.
I have a D120 but not a D12
Going to start testing now....

U302 is SP8K3 635.
All the caps had been replaced except C123. It had been replaced with a used one because I did not have a new one at the time. The new cap is doing the same as the old one....

1) C114 is 160V
2) C123 is fluctuating...

Both fuses I checked, meter set at 2k, reads .000. It was check while installed in the board. So these fuses are good....

0.0 on both. Thank you so much for working with me. I know it must be frustrating dealing with people new to this field. I have alway been interested in electronics, but never had the time....thx again....

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
I have the boards out of the monitor and using the ground from the power cord on the solder side. Doing this I get nothing. If I find another ground on the board, the reading on the one diode goes up and down. The other one is zero....

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
Are the diode's D240 & D260 and are we talking about 5DCV and 12 DCV? If so then I am getting a reading of 0V. Am I corrected by using the ground from the power cord?
I just tried to use a different ground and got one diode to bounce between .4V and .6V and 0 on the 12V diode. When the voltage changes from AC to DC, does the ground change?...Last edited by slvfox2008; 02-17-2011, 10:12 AM.

Attached are the pictures of my boards.
I did check the continuity on both fuses and they check out....

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
Forget what I said about not getting power to the Logic Board. I was using a ground not associated to the pins connecting the two boards. I saw where there was a ground on one of the pins. One pin said it should be 12v and I have 0. The other pin says 5v and I have a reading of .5. This was a DCV reading. Now what?Last edited by slvfox2008; 02-16-2011, 04:58 PM.

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
I removed the black one (F240) and got a diode reading of .001. When you said "without mains connected" I assumed you mean removing the part.

Re: HannsG HW173D dead. Recap = new fault.
After having said that I see that I have no voltage going through to the Logic Board. What can I check now, and do you know where the fuse is located? Thx for all the help.
