  • Re: Onkyo TX-NR609 Sound only on USB/Internet Radio/DLNA Input

These dsp processors are a known problems. Reball won't help. The problem is inside the chip. You can bring them back alive for a moment when heating up. Maybe in your case that happend now. TI may still have a support doc on their site listing the exact typenumbers

  • Re: JBL ES-150-P standby issue

If it has sound than probably the amp board is Okay. Did you check +15/-15 voltages? manual page 30/31? caps, next i would check the mute circuit.

It's more or less the same amp used in those HK subwoofers. Eventualy they all fail. The glue in you pictures is still white. When it becomes dark it becomes a conductor. Then you get all kind of strange problems. Yours looks still okay

    1. Check C16/C18 ? 10uF np
    2. If it has brown glue on the board, remove it

    Picture would help

  • Re: Pioneer VSX-859RDS with all mosfets gone

That did the trick. I was able to power it up. All mosfets are still in one piece

Connecting a speaker resulted in a loud hum and amp going in protect. I measured about 5 volts between the negative speaker terminal and the chassis. Then i remembered the funny thing about pioneer amps. They need a screw between the relay board and the chassis to ground the speaker terminal and now it works!

So i think it was me that forgot the screw in the first place in combination with a DC protect circuit that...

It's difficult to get it powered up with the lamp in serie. Even with disconnected power module. because of the big buffer caps...

  • Pioneer VSX-859RDS with all mosfets gone

    Hi,

I am working on a pioneer VSX-859. It started with only one problem but i ended up with a lot more. Probably caused by me

Anyway it started with a DSP NG message on the display. That one was easy and was caused by a bad 5v rail. Replaced the capacitors and the message was gone. Everything seems to be working except for a blob sound every time i switched from source. Eventually i tracked that down to a leaking battery on the analog board. Repaired some via's and lines and everything worked ok. That same circuit also caused a not working DCdetect protection. ...

  • Re: Optoma Hd146x with bad powersupply

Replaced the filter with two wires and it works again.

Luckily nothing else damaged. I guess the wire may have been damaged at production.

  • Optoma Hd146x with bad powersupply

    Hi
I am repairing a Optoma HD beamer with a bad powersupply. It has a blown 6.3A fuse and a burned coil in the mains line.
Any ideas where to get a filter like that? I am little surprised that the mains is directly connected to both lines on the coil. One wire has a bit of more isolation (light color) but still both mainlines are really close together like this. It seems to me this is asking for trouble. I mean i have seen them with seperate sides but never like this. Maybe rewire? Any advice?...

    Re: Onkyo TX-SR606

I got another 606 to repair with a bad HDMI board. But it still had a working videoprocessor so i could make a copy of the firmware in Q8085

So if you need it see the attachment...

    1. Measure AC component on every DC voltage rails. Replace / check capacitors when to high.
    2. Check IC36, IC37 voltage regulators. I have seen the negative gone bad a few times. Input selector gets hot when bad

  • Re: Harmon BDS280 failed trigger output

I measured the normal operating current between the receiver and the sub. It's only 5 mA so i put a 1K ohm in serie of the trigger line. This will prefent damage to the transistor. I don't understand why it is made like this. The supply voltage comes directly from the powersuppler (+12V_D). Btw it only happens on the side of the sub. The sub had a stereo jack with one side for audio and the otherside the trigger. The receiver however only has a mono jack. So you can remove the plugi from the receiver while powerup without a problem.

  • Re: Harmon BDS280 failed trigger output

I tested the fuse and it looks okay, Put 5 volts on it, 5 Ohm resistor in serie and the current drops to about 0.100mA. Removed power and the fuse resets. I dont see how the transisor Q19 gets damaged. It can handle 2A and the fuse should trip at 0.7A.

I am going to replace the fuse anyway, maybe its not fast enough....

  • Harmon BDS280 failed trigger output

I am working on a Harman Kardon BDS280 that is not powering up its subwoofer. The subwoofer is connected with a mono 3.5mm plug in the triggerport so when the BDS starts the subwoofer powers up

Normally the BDS outputs a 12V when powered up but in this case the voltage was missing.

So i checked the schematics (see image) and found out that Q19 was blown. I replaced it and everything started working again. After that i removed the trigger plug cable and when i checked it again the 12V was missing again. I checked Q19 and found out it was blown again.

    Inserting...

    Re: Onkyo TX-SR606

The initial problem was a bad right channel causing the amp to go into protect. I repaired the channel and checked out the preamp board for bad caps. After that the sound was fine. Then i found out the HDMI didn't work at all. I checked the DC converters on the HDMI board and there was a lot of noise on the output voltages. I replaced all the 100uF/4V capacitors and later i replaced all the other 220/470 capacitors. After that the HDMI started working again.

Then i noticed the OSD didn't work and after some checking also the component...

    Onkyo TX-SR606

    Hi,

I am repairing an old Onkyo TX-SR606 with a bad HDMI board. I replaced most of all the caps and the board is back alive. However i don't have an OSD or any output signal on component video. It is caused by an empty video EEPROM Q8085 probably damaged or wiped because of the bad powersupply on the HDMI board.

I search everywhere but i can't find the firmware file. Does anyone have the Q8085 firmware bin file for this receiver and willing to share?

    Kind regards
    Arnold
