I would spend a little time searching for around 20uf +- 20%. You can use a 1206 size if you have.
Check on some donor boards or Caps from other scrap electronics..
Not sure how the chip on the PS4 will react if you put on a 40uf. It might work, for a while, but I wouldn’t do it. If it’s a customer’s PS4, you only risk getting it in return with potentially bigger damages.

Hi,
I have repaired numerous PSU's and I have seen this problem several times.
The problem is not any of the components you have tried to reflow. Problem is that this is a Chicony PSU. I have yet to see this problem from a Delta PSU.
The smd capacitors used on these boards, specifically for the PS4 Pro seems to have a spec problem. The problem is that the PSU might work, but it turns off under load above 4-5 Amps. Or it might not turn off, but make a "coil wine".
99% of these cases are out of spec SMD capacitor(s), or physically cracked parts. Problem is they...
Re: PS4 lights up for a few seconds (blue led) and shuts down - non-rotating fan
It is important to be precise in describing the symptoms. There is a lightyear of difference in the normal error pattern, based on what the Console does.
After turning on the Console:
1-2 second and it shuts down, indicates a short somewhere. If no short is found check the big caps around the APU. APU can also miss the main power because of bad solder point under APU and shuts down immediately.
6 Seconds BLOD, no fan spin. Then shuts down. Most likely Southbridge problem....
Re: PS 5, Need help locating a connection on motherboard
Unless there is a specific Capacitor getting very hot during voltage injection, my best bet is the Wifi Chip. The rail with F7002 feeds the Wifi Chip directly with power.
If you need to remove the Wifi Chip, use hot air from opposite side of the board to avoid melting the plastic connectors. Also a good idea is to protect the board Speaker from heat and melting by using Kapton tape to protect it
Re: PS4 lights up for a few seconds (blue led) and shuts down - non-rotating fan
When you say that it turns off after a few seconds, how many seconds are we talking?
If it is 6 seconds and there is no fan spin, the problem is the Southbridge. Check around it and on the opposite side of the board for shorts
Hi,
I am glad your PS4 starts up and gives you a white light. This means basically that your PS4 is good to go..
The fact that it boots up assures that all essential components play along and accept the startup. With this in mind, your APU, RAM and NOR are good and not at fault in this case.
I would not crawl down the "rabbit hole" starting to measure voltages on the components around the HDMI encoder. Primarily because, since you do not have picture on the TV, meaning that the necessary powers are not produced...
Hi,
Sorry if it was a little unclear.
"The first post" i referred to was the missing resistor. That is a 2K, aka 2000 Ohms.
The second one "close to the edge" which I referred to as 22R3 is the same as 22,3 Ohms. This should even make a beep if you test it in continuity mode on your DMM.
They look the same, both are 0402 (size) resistors, but completely different values.
The choke with different value, is it the one "not in line" with the 3 others on the main input?...
Hi,
Just some thoughts..
When you say "it doesn't work", do you refer to the disc is not spinning or that the disk is starting up normally when you insert a disc, but you get an "unknown disc" message?
Can confirm your bd7764 is on the board in the correct direction.
I would also check the big Reneas chip next to it. Check for loose pins and corrosion.
Also check F6001 and F6201, located on the flip side of the board next to the (white or black) connector. They...
I can help you out identifying the missing resistor. It is a 0401 2K resistor. It has the same value as the one directly beneath it. They are connected to pins 15 and 16 on the HDMI port (you probably knew that).
If your diodes are fine, you should be good to go with a new resistor.
If it does not work with a new resistor, I would look at HDMI decoder. Check for shorts on the 4 filters as a start.. Between the port and the decoder.
