Yep, and I have the same problem too.
Lets see if we can get the 2008 iMac going... Just too good to throw away!
I Would like to hear if any others on the forum was able to revive the iMac.

I think you need the "open firmware password".
Power on the Mac and immediately press and hold command-option-P-R. The system will restart with the 'bong' noise; allow it to do this 3 times. On the third 'bong' you can let go of the keys. The machine will now boot with a cleared password and reset PRAM/NVRAMLeave a comment:
