Re: HP DV4 no power, burnt component maybe get lucky
Hi Ktmmotocross, thanks for answering. Are you possitive on that? because I was almost discarding a power switch faillure since the system power up (aparently as it should) whenever I made the INSIDE bios recovery routine. No power at all in other cases, and no battery charge in both cases.
Thanks and sory for being repetitive!

Re: HP DV4 no power, burnt component maybe get lucky
Hi, did you managed to fix that laptop? If no, could you please check if it powers up with the bios recovery routine? (no USB present just to prevent unwanted updates).
The routine is 1) unplug the power cord and battery 2) hold down WIN + B keys 3) plug in ac adapter 4) hit power button
If it powers up please commento so I can trace my issue that is no power at all unless I make this procedure but didn´t seems to work to restore bios nor charging the battery.
Thanks and good luck

Re: Hp dv4 wsnu main board
Hi, could you post the full model of that laptop? dv4-1225dx for example. And also, it would be usefull to have the model of that board you´r refering to.
Thanks and good luck

Re: Asus P7H55-M LX missing fet
hi guys! how´s everyone? I have tested with two diferent 1085AD (adjustable) with no luck, fet overheat and the power led light but dim... if I try without that fet power led bright well but I think I have no power voltage as it doesn´t start.
Does any of you have the shcematic for this mobo? or know how that 1085 should be working? no short on board, maybe a cap is bad or something.
Any help would be really apreciated
Thanks for reading and good luck

Re: Asus P7H55-M LX missing fet
Many many thanks to all of you!! I will buy (or recicle from scrap) this 3A ADJUSTABLE/FIXED LOW DROPOUT LINEAR REGULATOR and see how it goes... I will keep you updated.
Thanks and good luck!!

Re: compaq cq40 no display
Sory, but I have a cq40 with exactly the same simptoms as yours, no power up nor display, only a blinking led. Was trying to flash the bios but no case, how do you manage to flash it, or how are the bios recovery procedures in this model? thanks

Asus P7H55-M LX missing fet
Hi there!
I recently got an asus P7H55-M LX mobo, with a missing mosfet.
The one missing is at position PU203, and I can´t get a high res pic so I can´t identify it, so I´m asking if any of you have one to please tell me wich code does it have.
To further references, I´m adding a pic with the position of the mosfet.
Thanks in advance

Re: Toshiba L300
You should probably try a reflow at the northbridge chip, that is the one near to the cpu or if it has integrated grafics like ati or nvidia search for the video chip. they are all bga chips that means you cannot acces the solder joints so you have to sent hot air to reach 200ºC for about a minute, on the back of the mainboard at the place where the graphic chip is (or the northbridge if it's an intel GMA) and then on the other side again (let it cool a little before twisting and beware of not bend the board or you'll make an unrecoverable short!!) also don't press...

Re: Dell 2007FPb No Power, Power and 1 icon (VGA) blinking
Hi there, I had the exact same simptoms as tboxxx, so I don´t think if I should open a new post. No response of the panel buttons, vga keeps blinking and only 19V on the conectors.
1) I had found on the USB board a J598 voltage regulator faulty (in short) as the s4 64A diodes that corresponds to this part of the circuit. Also the 3A fuse was blown and the zener ZD701 was shorted (thanks to billy66 that has made a good effort to discover for me the breackdown voltage).
2) I replaced everything,...

Re: Dell 2007WFP - Inverter Problem?
Hi there, I´m looking for someone who know the value of the ZD701 little zener diode, because mine is blown and I can´t find the breackdown voltage nowhere...
If you have an inverter board of the 2007WFP/FPB an will to help me, please measure the voltage drop on this little zener while the monitor is on putting the voltimeter on the terminals of the zener.
Thanks in advance
And sory to bring back old posts

Re: Dell 2007WFP Won't Power On
thanks PlainBill!
I know I haven´t posted pics and datasheet, but the J598 doesn´t have datesheet (or I can´t find it) and I had already isolated the failure, I only ask for someone that has the knowledge or the diagram of the inverter board to tell me with wich voltage is working the zd701, or if someone has a very huge heart an want to isolate the diode and meassure the voltage, it would be very appreciated!! the integrated that controls the board are two TL1451A
the way to measure this is writen on this forum, quoting is kind of...

Re: Dell 2007WFP Won't Power On
Hi there! I´m also trying to repair a 2007wfp dell monitor, had replaced a shorted J598 mosfet, and the two diodes S4 62A (with similar FU4007: 1000V, 1A, 75ns) (one of the S4 diodes was shorted) and also the 3A fuse.
But the result is that I still get a short and is caused by the ZD701 (very little zener diode, the only one on the pcb)
Does anybody know of a proper replacement? I can´t get to figure wich voltage is it suposed to work with, guessing for the size that it´s a 1/4W diode.
Thanks for your wisdom!
Chad
