Re: PANASONIC TX-P50S20B 50" Plasma
As Bill suggested check out the manual and look up the C2 board (Data Driver (Lower Center)). Looking at your picture and noting where the vertical error is I'd check this board and it's connections.

Re: Vizio Y Sus Z Sus Replacement Questions
Pretty clean set you got there.
Don't assume that both the Y and Z sus boards are shot. Check the fuses on both the boards first. If you find any open fuses then it's safe to say that the IPM/s on the board are shorted.
If the fuses check out ok then power up the TV and leave it for half an hour to warm up. Switch off then touch the heatsinks, carefully(!), on the Y and Z sus boards. If you touch a stone cold heatsink then that is the board you need to change; open IPM/s.
Oh, and you may as well replace...Last edited by Remeniz; 02-03-2011, 03:21 PM.

Re: LG 50PG20/UA Shuts off
First port of call is to check the PSU. Look at the top of the caps and if there's any bulging ones. Although remember that a faulty cap might not necessarily show any signs of degradation.
If the caps are fine then it's likely that the PSU is shutting down to protect itself and further damage to the TV. I'd start by removing the power to either the Y or Z sustain board then powering up the TV. The idea is to check which sustain board is shorted and shutting down the PSU. These are the easy checks.
Before you do...Last edited by Remeniz; 02-02-2011, 02:41 PM.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PX60U With distorted picture
Yep, those are the boards, C1 and C2 data boards in the manual.
Double check the connections from the data boards to the PDP and from the D board (Format Converter/Plasma AI/Sub-Field Processor board) according to the manual, to the data boards. This is the area of the problem.Last edited by Remeniz; 02-02-2011, 01:50 PM.

Re: Panasonic TH-42PX60U With distorted picture
With vertical problems like this I check the X boards/Address boards. They run along the bottom of the plasma panel.Last edited by Remeniz; 02-02-2011, 06:28 AM.

Re: LG MZ-42PZ44 42" Plasma Television (stuck in stadby)
Yea, see the thing is a lot of people think that when a Plasma/LCD dont work it's the PSU when there's plenty to go wrong.
Look at the Z sus board closely for a part number and post it here.
I've got a feeling that a brand ne LG board will be less than a ton.

Re: toshiba 37HL95 "no start"
Does the TV stay in standby or is it not receiving power at all?

Re: Bad caps on Inverter Board?
Just a quick re-cap...
I opened up the external PSU and replaced the high voltage filter electrolytic on the primary side and it works fine now.
Thanks!

Philips 32PFL7782D/05 LCD TV won't turn on?
Hi peeps.
I have a Philips 32PFL7782D/05 LCD TV that won't turn on. The LED gives one long flash followed by two short flashes. According to the manual this is error code 12 - I2C error while communicating with the MOJO PNX8314, which is obvious because the MOJO on the main board isn't receiving power to communicate with IC 7H03.
I checked the PSU for bad caps but they're all good. So I connected it all up all the boards and powered it up the TV worked fine. I switched it off turned it around, so the screen was facing me, and powered it up again and its refusing...

Re: Bad caps on Inverter Board?
The external PSU was cycling on/off without the inverter board.
Also I hooked up the high current output from an ATX PSU to the monitor and guess what?... It powered up, albeit without the backlight; 11.6V isn't enough for the inverter to start up the cathodes, it needs 15V.
So it seems the PSU is not liking the initial current demands; with the ATX PSU running the monitor it needed 2.5A, 4A max, to start the cathodes after which it drops to 860mA. But to have the PSU crap out with just less than an amp...

Re: Bad caps on Inverter Board?
My bad.
TV model is Toshiba NR 20VL44B. The backlight comes on very briefly, like it's trying to start up, but it's this initial start up process that is causing problems and is shorting the PSU. The PSU has a 5A limit after which it will shut down for 1 second and re-start. I just assumed that the multimeter's high internal resistance across the small cap's was fixing the problem so it...Last edited by Remeniz; 01-29-2011, 04:26 AM.

Logic proves the control board is the odd one out here. So this is what i'd suspect as faulty....

Re: LG MZ-42PZ44 42" Plasma Television (stuck in stadby)
The MOSFET's/IPM on the Z sustain board are probably shorted. You can check this by putting an ohm meter across the 190V and ground supply at the power connector on the board. If it's low it's shorted.
I'm replacing a Y sustain board on a Samsung for the same reason, shorted MOSFET's on this one; even though the PSU fired up and provided power to the board which in turn opened the fuse on the board. I was going to replace the MOSFET's but I figure that the rest of the board might be suspect too.

Bad caps on Inverter Board?
Hi peeps.
I've got a LCD screen with a faulty backlight inverter board; everytime I try and power up the monitor the backlight comes on briefly, the PSU short-circuit protection kicks in and the whole lot turns off. This on/off cycle will carry on until you disconnect the power.
So I un-plugged the inverter board and the TV powered up fine. Plug the inverter back in and it shorts again. Now if I keep the inverter board plugged in and remove all 6 cathode connections the TV powers up fine.... then if I plug back in the tubes the TV stays on, but without the backlight....Last edited by Remeniz; 01-28-2011, 01:43 PM.
