  • Re: Thermaltake Smart 500W... will the Crapacitors last?

Old thread but i have a Thermaltake smart 700w manufactured about 3/4s of a year ago.
I opened it up expecting to find no name caps after seeing photos of another one opened and showing no name 85c caps.
    Mine has all Teapo 105c.
Not the best but considering it came in a prebuilt pc, it could be a lot worse.
psu design / topology seems to be identical to be quiet!'s 600/700w

  • Re: The GOOD Capacitors Thread!!

I used to put a lot of UCC / NCC in my repairs but i am not doing it anymore. Even though i only bought 105c 10k hour UCC / NCC for a year or 2, I removed so many failed one moreso than any other respected brand i've seen, i just think they are trash now. I have not had a UCC / NCC that I installed go bad, but the frequency I continue see them fail concerns me.

Is this fair of me to say? Of the big brands people trust, I see so many bad UCC/NCC and I see bad rubycon now and then, but never had a bad Delta, never had a bad Nichicon, never...

  • Re: cheap but good thermal paste?

I've been using this cheap stuff in small buckets called "HY410" for years.

I got some at first back around 10 years ago when I was replacing thermal paste on a very large number of laptops and desktops both. I also use it when replacing voltage regulators.

All the machines i used it on still work great to this day, performance is good enough, sure you may get an extra degree or two at best if you use arctic silver 5 or something. but I even use this paste on my own PC's and PC's i build for others.

  • Re: Würth Elektronik Electrolytic Capacitors Official Thread

The price on Wurth for 100uf and lower can't be beat on Mouser in most cases, the price on 50v 105c for those tiny values is just unbeatable.

Some brands like Lelon i don't trust so much for larger caps I will gladly use in 10uf or smaller, I have 100's if not 1000's of Lelon 10uf 16v caps in 5v circuits and never once had a failure in maybe 5-6 years.

It was something like $0.0088 per cap to buy 100 10uf and 1uf Wurth 50v on Mouser this month and I haven't had anything go...
