  • ASUS Aspire A315 Series NB8609_PCB_MB_V4 Bios

I didn't see the BIOS for ACER board NB8609_PCB_MB_V4 when I needed it, so here's my contribution. I hope this helps someone....

  • Re: S301LA Schematic Request

I just solved the board issue. Turns out that cap PC8802 near the power-input MOSFETs was indeed bad. What's interesting is that this cap, (and many others), were initially tested for a short-to-ground using Diode Mode on my multimeter and didn't trigger. After changing the Charge Management IC (PU8801) and watching it 'splode, I rechecked caps using Resistance Mode and saw that it had a crazy low resistance indicating a failure. Changed both IC and capacitor and the board came back to life. Thanks for pointing me at some options to help, though.

Unless I'm mistaken, the archive file in that post has only the boardview file and not a schematic with it. I've read through that string to help troubleshoot, but still having a hard time.

    S301LA Schematic Request

I'm searching for a schematic for a S301LA board to make sense of all this...

I'm still working on an S301LA board where I thought that the problem was with the two A5KNA mosfets. (With some alcohol on them, you could see them thump repetitively.) After removing the 10k Ohm resistor, I supplied voltage/current with my own DC supply, connected after the mosfets to find what I thought was a bad cap, and burned up the charge management IC (PU8801). After ordering/replacing the IC, the chip fried again. However, this time power was supplied by the laptops own power supply. I thought...

  • Re: Boardview Request: Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 1

The saga continues... I'm still searching for the cause of the blown inductor. Everything on the VCCGFXCORE_I circuit is shorted to GND, which consists of 30+ caps. My power supply is down hard, so all I can think of to do at this point is remove them one by one to identify the bad cap (assuming it is a cap.) Any words of advice?

    Huge help! Thanks, SMDFlea!

Turns out it was a blown inductor; L7701.

  • Re: Boardview Request: Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 1

I have searched around, (in other forums, too), and see that someone posted a file for the Carbon X1, but appears to be wildly different than the board I'm looking at. Other than that, it seems most folks are looking for BIOS related help.

  • Re: Alternative Mosfet

Thank you, @piernov for asking this question! I'm working on an ASUS board with the similar problem of a blown, discontinued MOSFET and trying to find a suitable replacement. Thanks @jasko_jasker for those parameters!

  • Boardview Request: Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 1

Hi, everyone. I'm working on a Lenovo X1 Yoga Gen 1 with at least one blown cap. Does anyone have a boardview file?

    Thanks!

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    What's good, BadCaps members?!

I've just retired from the U.S. military and started a small repair business in Virginia. Rough timing for sure, but I already have some customers and I'm also providing services to First Responders for free during the pandemic. It's my hunch that this may be good for the repair industry as a whole, but we shall see. Until then, may your irons stay busy my friends.
