I haven't unsoldered anything to test yet, but who the hell is Samyoung and SamWha?! I've never even heard of these brands!
PS model number is BN44-00330A
better pictures will be forthcoming as soon as I find my scanner. There's no sign of heating damage anywhere. Symptom of set is that it completes POST with no problem. When turned on, all low voltage signals are operating normally, startup "chime" plays, then I hear two quick buzzes from the X/Y boards, both Vs and Va immediately start plunging and then the plasma goes out. This behavior is repeatable...

Disappearing Vs and Va in Samsung/AUO Plasma PS?

Re: visio vx37l with black screen no sound
I have the same set with the same problem. Logo is orange, power up it goes white with the backlight coming on. Nothing on screen and can't turn it off.
Power supply is putting out all the correct voltages, the backlight fires up but then I can't turn the TV off and nothing comes on the display. Also the optical audio output does not light up the laser diode.
Checked F1 and F2 and both are OK. Getting 5 volts at the 7805T. It would not be unusual to see a 1.0 to 1.5 volt level for the ARM CPU core, but I suspect...

Re: BenQ DV3250 - operates but with bizzare display corruption
Just for kicks I took the panel a little more apart and snapped a few pictures. The problem definitely starts right between the two cards screwed to the top of the panel. No signs of broken solder joints or bad flex circuitry. There looks to be some type of IC actually mounted to the middle of the flex cables that attach to the panel. Some kind of buffer circuit? Doesn't appear to be any physical damage to the panel....

BenQ DV3250 - operates but with bizzare display corruption
I recently acquired a not quite properly working BenQ DV3250. I suspect this is a defective AV board issue, but I don't know for sure. The AV board is a BQ102 part number 48.M3401.A00 which is basically unobtanium unless you can read and write Taiwanese. All the voltages look good from the PS so I guess I'd like to try and figure out if this is fixable and if this type of display corruption is indicative of a failing AV card or if it's the panel itself. I suspect this will just be an academic exercise as neither are likely to be available anywhere for a reasonable cost.
The gist of...

Re: Panasonic plasma TH-42PZ80U 2 blink 15v SOS
Sounds like it's worth a try, I'll do some more poking around. From your bolded statement I'm going to assume that it would be bad if I were to follow through with my plan to remove the 15v+ line from the P7 connector on the power supply and measure the unloaded 15v+ line at the PS without disconnecting any other cables?

Panasonic plasma TH-42PZ80U 2 blink 15v SOS
Power supply part number ETX2MM702MF. Pickings are slim, pretty much every store I've looked at online once had them but is now out of stock. I have heard that these power supply boards are plagued with bad caps, but at least visually everything appears to be fine. Most are Nippon with a few Panasonics.
I'd like to get a pic of the back of the board but almost all the switching transistors are mounted to a metal back plate that works as a heat sink.
The error code given by the CPU is 15v SOS. I followed the basic troubleshooting steps that I found online which was...

Re: Polaroid *cough* TLA-01511C EPC-19 and Inverter question
No problem. Good luck!
Here's the original electrolytic cap list from the PS:

Re: Polaroid *cough* TLA-01511C EPC-19 and Inverter question
I ordered them from http://www.ccflwarehouse.com/ The size I came up with was 2 tubes of 2.0mm x 334mm. If you want to get an assembly, it's figure 5 for the wire layout.
As a note of caution, there's a nearly invisible clear plastic retainer/spacer in the middle of the reflector tray that holds the tubes that I didn't see, and ended up breaking both the tubes in half when I tried to remove them. So keep an eye out for that. Be extra careful removing the end caps. Both of mine disintegrated when...

Re: ACER X221W / XW221 2 sec and off
No, while that transformer was $12, it was located in Hong Kong. I ended up getting it from LCDparts/MoniServ for $25 shipped.
Cool, I thought it might be for assembly reasons, thanks again everyone!

Re: ACER X221W / XW221 2 sec and off
New transformer arrived yesterday, soldered it in and it fired right up. Awesome!
What are your thoughts on the white silicone/glue that was over the transformer solder joints? Just in case to prevent arcing to something? Am I safe to not replace that or would it be a good idea to cover the terminals with something?

Re: Polaroid *cough* TLA-01511C EPC-19 and Inverter question
OK here's after the recap. Received new CCFLs yesterday, soldered everything up and still getting 2 sec and off sometimes, then sometimes the backlights restart, eventually though I started hearing buzzing or arcing coming from somewhere and an ozone like smell so I pulled the plug. Time to recheck my soldering work and take the panel back apart....

Polaroid *cough* TLA-01511C EPC-19 and Inverter question
Cliffs: is 660 Ohms secondary resistance OK for EPC-19 transformer?
Non cliffs:
I was given one of these units to try and fix. It was doing 2 sec then off so I cracked it open and you guessed in. HEC and ProCon caps almost every one bulging.
I replaced all but 2 little ProCon's with Rubycon PX, ZL, and one MCZ. Just haven't gotten to the last 2 little ProCons. Right now I'm waiting on new CCFLs to replace the very badly burned tubes that were in there. So since I have it apart I decided to check the secondary transformer, an EPC-19. The reading across the...Last edited by BarrelRoll; 01-20-2011, 09:07 PM.

Re: How hot does it get in there?
Interesting. I was working on a 50" SONY Plasma (Actually a Pioneer) and it had 5 fans in it, all with rotation sensors in case a fan stopped which would kill power to the set. The 42" SONY Plasmas (actually LG) didn't have anything IIRC.

Re: ACER X221W / XW221 2 sec and off
Ordered one up!
I did some reading here on TAICON/NichiCon joint venture and apparently there are mixed feelings on them due to the defective electrolytics that went into the Dell/Apple fiasco. I guess next on the list is reading data sheets to find replacements for those TAICON and CapXon caps.

Re: ACER X221W / XW221 2 sec and off
I think I understand the secondary test. In this case it looks like I have two transformers sharing a common core. If that's the case, something looks not right. I tested all pins to all other pins but omitted ∞ ohm readings for brevity.
T1 - tested in circuit with ccfls disconnected.
a primary coil - 1.5 ohm
a secondary coil - 994 ohm
b primary coil - 1.5 ohm
b secondary coil - 1.766 MegaOhm
T1 part ID:
SPI 8TC00332
0719 1 FC GP
looks like lcdparts has them...

Re: ACER X221W / XW221 2 sec and off
Oh I didn't see that before. The power supply has an 8 pin conector to the control board
+12 | +12
Gnd | Gnd
+5 | +5
ADJ | ON/OFF
I thought on and off were separate pins. I didn't see the adj label. My bad.
