Re: rca l40fhd380yx7
Thanks Plainbill,
Did not know of the ribbon connections referred to as a flex circuit. So the tconn is not a possible fix, because the picture is great other than that.
Thanks again!

Re: rca l40fhd380yx7
What is a flex circuit, and is there a hidden menu for this unit I can play with to adjust for driver probs?

I have a vertical line that spans the left side of the display, about the size of a thread. On both sides of this line the picture is clear, but has a lighter contrast on the left compared to the right. All caps check good on the board using vom
Any thoughts? See attached impeg....

Re: How hot does it get in there?
Yup had a 52 inch plasma I repaired bad caps go figure, but one thing I notice was the lack of heat dissapation parts. Soooo I installed a 4 inch computor fan in the back. 12 volt choices are pretty good in other monitors, and t.v's as well. Iam sure its money 1. They dont want the extra cost in the unit, and 2.they want it to burn up early, so as to get you to help them rotate there retail inventory, by buying another. Only problem you fix it instead.

Re: dell 1740fpt
Ok let me try this agin it is a dell 1704fpt not a 1740fpt. duh! Thats why I check my replacement parts more than once before I change them. I replaced all the caps with new capxon, tit, for tat, whatever value and style the board had is what I replaced it with, regardless as to if it checked good with my vom. Yes I know thats not a certain way to check but at this point all I can afford, caps are cheap compared to the uncertain check of a vom when I try to problem solve a odd board problem. As for the pic I will check resolution and re attach. Right now I am away...

Re: dell 1740fpt
Replaced all caps as I have no esr. And I guess I have not got permission to post attachments, as the faq says I should have a tab to select and I do not see one?

Re: dell 1740fpt
Yes you can see either logo or wall paper, with bright light. Checked all caps, good. Transistors appear good, no shorts, or burned resistors.

Re: 2 Viewsonic VX1940W buzzing and no signal
First make sure the caps are bad. Second you can carefully cut the glue with an exacto, avoiding board scaring, these caps you list can be found in other power supplies and controls. Just be sure to check the replacements before install. K!...
