I bought a 37LC2D from a guy on CL that had backlights, but no pic or sound. Used my ESR and found (other than the obvious bad caps) that 2 - 470u 10v and 1 - 680u 10v caps next to the connectors measured high. Replaced them and the set works. Hope that helps somebody.

Hello,
I just worked on a LP1965 with a video problem (distorted/wavy lines). I found C414, a 10u 50v cap on the video board that was bad. It's right in line with Pin 1 of the ribbon connector to the display panel. Hope that helps someone. Love this site.Leave a comment:

Dell SE198WFPf Bright Horizontal Band on Top Third of the Screen
Hello,
Saw one other person in this forum with a horizontal band on a Hannspree, but no fix. The band is there all the time with either DVI or VGA signals. I have an ESR meter, have checked caps, and all are still very good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.... -

Success!... I did some ESR readings of all the surface mount caps on the board, and found C817 a 100u 16v cap with 2-3 times higher value than the rest. I swapped it with a radial, and it worked! C817 is next to the two other radials on the board. Hope that helps.Leave a comment:

My older brother caught me soldering the couch when I was 5 years old. I guess I thought it was a Fluxsteel, when it was a Flexsteel... I haven't put the iron down since - 45 years. 90% of the electronics/computers in my house are cast-offs that I repaired. That doesn't mean I can't learn, since there seem to be some real masters here. I still come up with "tough dogs" and would appreciate the help.
