Looks like you were spot-on on those numbers. It is a 2252A, 92T, A22J. See attached pic....

While it's temping......I'd really like to figure root-cause this thing. That said, a curious thought is if I'm already touching the terminal on the resistor when I first power it up, will it immediately boot or is it the change after it's powered up that's allowing it to boot. Off to do further testing!

I did....can't believe I didn't think of that, but it didn't make a difference. Further testing shows I can jump-start it with any piece of metal touched to pin one. Looking at the traces, I can also do the same thing by touching a metal object to the left side (as oriented in the close-up picture) of R13.
Seems like touching these items introduces a slight change in something....capacitance?? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me so what am I missing or not understanding?? I do know that touching those items with something...

All,
Troubleshooting an APC NetBotz 455 environmental monitoring device. I've had this on my "to fix" shelf for a while and got a hair tonight to look at it. Did some standard troubleshooting first...visibly inspected the boards, no blown caps, no burn marks, nothing "appears" out of the ordinary. Re-seated what would be considered the motherboard, checked the CMOS battery for proper volts, nothing else is jumping out at me.
Got out my multimeter and started probing points on the board that were labeled with voltage readings.....getting nothing...

Yea....working on a couple LP-2407 Gateway LCDs.....six of them to be exact. Four came back to life after recapping, the other two had obvious bad caps but didn't respond after recapping. With the help of this forum, went on to troubleshoot and identify my first bad regulators. One mainboard had two 1117s that were bad, a 18 and a 33. The other board had a completely different 1117 that was bad. That one in particular I had an easier time cross-referencing, probably because it was an AZ-1117 regulator.

So is it fairly safe to say as long as I'm getting a 1117-18, and the pin/package looks the same and is the same size as what I'm replacing, that generally there won't be an issue?

Thanks.....this is my first foray into replacing a voltage regulator. I've recapped tons of stuff but decided it's time to take thing further.
So....the important part of the identification is the 1117 and the 18 (or 33) in the part number. Is there any type of a naming or part number standard when it comes to the rest of the letters I see when looking up 1117 series voltage regulators? To be fair, I'm an IT engineer and VERY used naming standards and "patterns"...so just looking to learn how it's done on electrical...

Voltage regulator cross-reference
Hey all....hoping someone can help me with this. I have a couple voltage regulators I'm trying to cross but not having much luck.
The first is:
A1
AS1117L-18
B0640 25
The second is:
A1
AS1117L-33
B0640 28
I know the AS stands for Alpha Semiconductor, and I think I've found a datasheet for the AS1117L-33, just can't find anything for the -18. Ultimately I'm looking to cross these over to parts that I can get now, as all I'm finding similar are AZ1117 regulators.
If anyone can assist...

Hey all....been lurking for a while now, mainly reading up on repair experience on the old Gateway LP2407 monitors. I've successfully recapped four of them and with the help of this forum discovered that two more that I have that have no power no display actually have faulty voltage regulators. Thanks!! Look forward to contributing!
