Failed Seagate ST2000DM001
Hi All,
I need some advice on a failed hard drive
Seagate Model: ST2000DM001
PN:1CH164-510
FW: CC27
The computer it was in suffered a power spike and the motherboard has gone faulty as well as the HDD. I am not concerned with the computer motherboard.
I have put the drive in another computer and it spins up briefly (1-2 secs)
The new computer does not recognise the HDD.
The following checks have been made on the HDD circuit board
-checked the TVS Diodes on the +5v and +12v rails and they seem to be ok
...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi All,
I have been in the communications industry for over 30 years and a part time electronics hobbyist since i built a microbee computer in my teens (some time ago). I wish i had found this forum years ago. I have recently been replacing caps in LED GU10 down light drivers. They do not like heat..
