Re: Very ugly capacitors... or fake? (Panasonic FR)
Old thread but just wanted to comment on something. First, the IC capacitors are an old brand, they were used a lot in the 70s, AFAIK they got re-issued or they gave them a major bump back into commercial business. They are good and cheap capacitors, im into audio and these caps were used a lot in audio.
Most of you guys are thinking that electrolytics will be extinct because you are only looking at them from the computer motherboard perspective, there are a lot of different industries which require electrloytics,...

Re: What happens to cheap Caps after 30 years in a hot console?
Hello Japlytic!, thanks a lot its good to be here!
Yes they are siemens, the 22/63V in the bottom is a ROE, the problem is that these capacitors are 85ÂșC, and this console produces a tremendous amount of heat. Another problem is that the capacitors maximum voltage ratings are very close to the actual voltage at which its being runned, so that coupled with the heat and 30 years of use equals disaster.
My favorite capacitors are Panasonic FM and Rubycon ZLG series which have a combination...Last edited by Ssound; 01-25-2011, 12:22 PM.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, im from Mexico City, im a sound engineer and i work with audio equipment that constantly needs cap replacement, mostly because its vintage or runs very hot (or both) i've recaped around 2000 capacitors for the last 4 months, and many more in my entire life. I can totally say that i hate capacitors, but i dont hate Panasonic FMs that much.... Ill post pics of my bad caps from the 70s. NOW THATS A HORROR SHOW!
