Re: Plastic stand offs for backlight diffuser
Ordered from Ohm Supplies, arrived today. Unfortunately, the base of the pillars is too long and the pillar don't lock into place when you turn it, leaving the pillars loose.
I rang them up and the person I spoke with was very dismissive and arrogant, wouldn't even let me speak and describe the problem to the end. "We have done thousands of these, they work, they won't fall out." How do you know? "Because I know, I have more experience than you.". Absolutely appalling!
He eventually suggested...

Top man, they sell what appears to be 3D printed which is what I was thinking about....

Re: Plastic stand offs for backlight diffuser
Right now I'm working on a Panasonic TX-48CX400B but my question is generic.
I've had the same issue with all Vestel TVs, I simply could not remove these bits without breaking most of them. Some come out in one piece but they snap when I put them back.
I hoped I can buy spares, different lengths for different TVs, to have them here on hand when I need them....

Plastic stand offs for backlight diffuser
Hi,
Does anyone know where to buy plastic stand offs for backlight diffuser, mainly for Vestel TVs?
They are extremely brittle and almost always they break into pieces.
I looked on internet but little success.
Thank you!...

Re: How to find Hitachi TV model without back label?
Top man, thank you! Yet another TV saved from being disposed.
I have managed to turn it on from the little joystick but still needs a remote.
Just curious, do you know the difference between RC5117 and RC5118? I see on the auctions website that some sellers call it "NEW UPDATED RC5117 Remote Control" and wonder what makes the difference?

How to find Hitachi TV model without back label?
Hi,
I have purchased a faulty Hitachi TV from internet and I have now fixed it (backlight issue).
However, it came without a remote control. The back label is missing, I don't know the model so I don't know what remote control needs.
The seller has no clue or record of it.
What I know so far is this:
- it's a Hitachi
- 49-50 inches screen
- seems to be a smart TV (seller also said this)
- I have attached some pictures with the inside
Does anyone know how to find out what remote control I need for it...

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
I have removed the chip from the board and it worked.
Sadly, I have damaged the pads on the boards when I removed it. I have used the hot air gun, done some practice on a scrap board, set to 280C, all fine.
When I moved onto the actual board, the chip would not come off like the solder wasn't melting. After increasing the temperature a little bit (320C) and keeping the air gun on it for longer time it eventually came off but also the pads and traces.
It was a good experience...Last edited by geo86; 03-05-2020, 03:58 PM.

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
I've received the programmer today and I bumped into another grey area.
When the clip is not connected to the chip, the programmer's status is "Connected" and the red LED light on it is on.
When I connect the clip to the chip, the programmer disconnects and the red LED light goes off. Also, some components next to the USB connector seem to get really hot.
It happens on both bad and good board. It seems to be a shot-circuit or a low resistor that's causing...

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
That's right, the remote doesn't work on original board with the none of the firmware I've tried so far.
I just didn't know I need it for this procedure, I imagined it would work just by pressing OK.
Now I understand they are two different things....

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
What I was thinking (if possible) was this:
- enter service menu on the good board
- download a copy of the firmware on USB stick
- put the defective board into tv
- upgrade firmware with the USB stick
Is that how it works?...

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
I've ordered a replacement board from fleaBay and it fixed the tv.
This is the software installed on it, see attached picture.
Is there any possibility to copy the firmware from the replacement board onto the original board?
It's a shame to throw it away just because it hasn't got the right software....

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
This is a JVC firmware but is behaving the same as the previous Toshiba.
It upgrades, I get the initial setup screen but the remote control does not work.
The white band at the bottom of the screen disappears when I push up the jog on the tv but that's it, nothing else seems to happen....

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
But the how did I manage to upgrade with the previous firmware you gave me?
Either the firmware auto-lunched or the OK key worked before upgrade in which case we can conclude that the firmware is incorrect.
I'll try this file tonight when I get home and post results.
Thank you all for help!...

Re: Tv Digihome 50292UHDDLEDCNTD restarts and blinking standby light
It's the one from yokoono, please scroll up, it's the 4th post on this thread.
Initially, the screen was black and then this screen popped up, it was about 50% when the blue screen came up.
Have you got anything else to try before I commit to a new board?...
