I replaced recently a cracked screen with a genuine Apple LCD on MBA M1. The result is:
- True Tone does not work (there is no option to turn it on/off in the settings)
- the Apple Hardware Test will show at the end of the diagnostics the error code "ALS001" saying "There may be an issue with the ambient light sensor"

Short update: All voltage measurements are correct. The board has still the issue. I also tried another topcase, nothing changed. It is kind of a desperate situation with that board.Leave a comment:

Both components (topcase + screen) are from Apple, no Aliexpress. Just the topcase might be from 2018. The board and screen are from 2019.Leave a comment:

I disconnected the trackpad cable; the keyboard does not work now, the fans are on high speed. The webcam still does not work.

Hi there,
after I replaced the topcase of the Mac, there is no webcam, no True Tone, no keyboard backlight working and also in the display settings there is missing the option for automatic display brightness. When I run the Apple Hardware Test, there is no issue found.
I would highly appreciate any kind of hint.

If you check it online with a paid service (FMM) and the result shows "ON", but the Mac is not linked to your AppleID, then the device was most likely bypassed.
I suppose there is only one way how you can find it out for free: You do restore the bridgeOS and after install the macOS.Leave a comment:
