Reporting great success on my EliteBook 840 G1!

Desoldered the BIOS chip (with a help of a friend) and modified the bios dump using the unlocker tool.

Anyone worried that HP Unlocker is a virus I can confirm it is not the case. The application is a packaged Python script of circa 60 lines of elegant code! I have reverse enginered the .exe to confirm this. Some antiviruses can get a bit trigger happy because the .exe includes the whole Python runtime which includes libraries to work with sockets and other stuff that can be found...

I'm thinking of using the ME Analyzer just to confirm the read did not corrupt the bios dump.

Is there a way of confirming that the bios is really unlocked before I write it back to the chip?...

Hi guys a complete n00b here.

I will attempt to flash my locked Elitebook 840 G1 over the weekend and I have a question.

If I understand correctly I just need to:[LIST=1][*]Get the bios dump from my laptop[*]Use the HPUnlocker tool located on the first page of this topic[*]Write the dump back to the bios chip[/LIST]

Do I need to worry about the ME region at all? Saw some posts mentioning you need to clean it? Or does the unlock tool already do this?
