This is almost impossible to calculate because you'd have to know the exact permeability of the core material. This can vary a lot. According to Wikipedia ferrite has values ranging from 4 to over 10000. In Physics we always calculated with a given permeability noone told me I'd be licked in the real world .

The OST RLZ are cpu vrm output caps.
You could replace them with: Rubycon MBZ,MCZ, or Nichicon HN,HZ.
The rubycons are sold at on this site and the Nichicons should be available at mouser or digikey.

The KZE caps are United Chemicon which are considered reliable.

The OST RLS woud be replaced by rubycon ZL (there should be more similar, but I'm rather new here.)

the problem is that those caps serve different purposes and the replacement caps need to do the job.

If you could take pictures or tell us the markings on the cap, it would be easier to help.
For motherboard vrm output caps you'll need to look at mouser.de or digikey.de for example.

yeah the curve was for a constant T. Actually this explanation is more than enough, thank you! This explains why I couldn't get much better dissipation with multisim. You can run 40A through a 1N4001 without a sweat in multisim. Obviously temperature is ignored there....

Hi! This is my first post.
Really love this site and don't want to threadjack.
At the moment I don't fully understand this diode problem, so I'd like to write what I understand so far and maybe I could get some feedback.

Say for a 1n4001 at 25C which starts conducting at about 0.7V.

At 0.4A the drop of the diode would be 0.85V which would give a loss of: 1.4*0.95W= 0.34W

Two in parallel would get 0.2A each at 0.8V which would equal 2*0.2*0.8W = 0.32W.

60% could be possible with a diode with the right...
