Re: Seiki SE39UY04 won't turn on - there's a scorch on the power board. Do I resolder
Resoldering that joint fixed it! Thanks everyone!
Is there a way to edit the title? I'd like to tag it as [Solved]

Re: Seiki SE39UY04 won't turn on - there's a scorch on the power board. Do I resolder
Sounds good, I'll have access to a soldering iron next week.
Does anyone have an idea of how/why this occurred? My best idea is that a partial fracture occurred, and the remaining connection wasn't "electrically large" enough to handle the current going through it, and so it turned into a sorta filament and heated itself to the evaporation point. Or something...?

Seiki SE39UY04 won't turn on - there's a scorch on the power board. Do I resolder?
Hi all!
My Seiki SE39UY04 turned off while I was using it and I smelled fried electronics. The red standby LED turns on but pushing the power button does nothing.
There's a scorch mark on the power supply board. Flipping the board over, it looks like the solder at a joint somehow... evaporated. There's very little solder at that joint anymore - certainly not enough to create a solid connection.
Should I stick some tinfoil there and see if it fixes it? If not, wat do?
Thanks!...
