Hi all,
I got a 820-01700 of a friend that doesn't turn on. I read that a typical issue with these boards is the TPS62180 generating the NAND voltages, so this is where I started looking. Sure enough, PP2V5_NAND_SSD0 is 4V when the machine tries to turn on (I try to determine this by measuring PP2V5_NAND_SSD1, which is 2.5V as it should in this case. The PP0V9_SSD0 and PP1V8_SSD0 power supplies for the SSD are on at the same time when PP2V5_NAND_SSD0 is 4V). The extremely weird thing is that when the machine is off (PP2V5_NAND_SSD1=0, PP0V9_SSD0=0 and PP1V8_SSD0=0), PP2V5_NAND_SSD0...

Re: MacbookPro 14 820-02098 liquid damage internal LCD not working
Since the service cleaned up the board, I don't know which picture to share. It looks like it comes straight out of the factory.
I checked the main 3V rail: with the LCD disconnected, it is present on the connector, and with the LCD connected, it is present on RP700, as I wrote. I don't see any way to measure this on the connector when the LCD is connected, as there is no way to access any of its pins.
As I said and the video shows, the backlight is present. Also, shining...

MacbookPro 14 820-02098 liquid damage internal LCD not working
Hello,
I have an A2442 MacBook with 820-02098 board. It had water damage, and some service already worked on the board and removed the HDMI connector.
When I got it, the machine worked fine, except for half of the keyboard, which needed to be replaced because it got liquid. The back side of the fans had some sticky liquid, so I guess the board had to have some at some point in the past as well, but it seems to be cleaned by the service who tried to repair it. There is no sign of any oxidation or trace of liquid on the board or the connectors. Everything is as clean...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi! I'm new here. I'm an electrical engineer currently working towards my computer science PhD. Sometimes I like to fix broken electronics.
