Picked this tv up from a family member. Tv was working fine and then they started having issues. Tv would turn on, show an image and shortly after it would shit down.
I've done some research and did a system reset. The screen comes on and the video is fine in setup. I've had it already where I could watch tv on it for a 30 hour. Other times it will turn on show the splash screen and shut down.
I'm at a lost as it works great after a full reset, but then after a while it goes back to it's old ways.

Re: Vizio D55u-d1
Alright I pulled the main board out today. Ran a heat gun over the back for about 15 minutes. Let it cool and put it back in. It kicked on the backlights. I didn't notice and image appear.
Pointing toward a main board issue now. I don't really want to put this in my oven to flow it. Doesn't appear to be many of these boards available.

Picked this tv up from a family member who was throwing it out. I've had success with a few tv's and figured I'd take a look at it.
I figured it was the power board based on the the standby light going out rather quickly. I ordered a board from Shop Jimmy and I'm at the same spot. Currently the standby light comes on and fades away. The light on the main board is red, when the power button it pressed it turns purple and stays purple.

Re: lg 55ln540
Alright tv has been sitting on my workbench. Now that we're are quarantined I figured I would make one last attempt.
I unhooked all the cables from the power board. I took readings and everything checked out. I hooked up video board and took readings, nothing changed. I took readings of back lights connection to power board. The readings we're good, whether cable was hooked up or not.
Everything checks out and the flickering sound is gone. If I hook all cables up to all boards and leave the lvds cable unhooked from the video board the flickering...

Re: lg 55ln540
Think it might be a lost cause. Picture is all wiggly, you can hear a hum coming from the tv. When tcon is unhooked the hum goes away. The back lights are all on. I only see the tabs on the bottom, there aren't any on the side that I can see.
Replaced tcon board. Everything clears up when tcon or cables to tcon are unhooked. When t con is connected the problems come back.

Re: lg 55ln540
I took the tv apart and got to the circuit board that the tab bonds are attached to. What would I be looking for?
I did replace the tcon board and that made no difference....

Re: lg 55ln540
The side that is hooked up has vertical lines, the other side is a clear white screen. When I hook that one back up and disconnect the other. It's the same thing on the screen, the side hooked up has lines, the other side is white....

My mother in law had this tv, worked great until one day. The image appears, but there are lines that form and the image is still visible.
I opened the back of the TV and noticed a noise coming from near the tcon board. If I unhook the cable going from video board to the tcon, the noise goes away. The screen has a blue screen and there are no lines. All the LED light appear to be lit from the back of the TV.
Is it possible the tcon board failed?

Re: Vizio E65-E1
So I haven't messed with this tv on a while. Today I plugged it in and the tv lit up and displayed the Vizio logo. Then shut back down. I tried holding the power button down to cycle the tv and then plugged it back on. Then the tv lit up and displayed the Vizio logo. Then it brought up a grey screen and was doing setup. The tv shut off and I haven't been able to get that far again.
I have a new main board and new power board. I get the same thing no matter if I put the old or new power board in.
It appears the only way to get the tv to...

Re: Vizio E65-E1
Finally got around to it. I only got the one reading as the tv powers up and then turns off. It cycles that way a couple times and shuts off.

Re: Vizio E65-E1
I will hook a meter up and get those numbers. The tv powers on without the power number being pressed. After cycling on and off a couple times, it doesn't turn back on.
I don't know how accurate the numbers will be

Re: Vizio E65-E1
As much as I research, there doesn't seem to be many who have had problems with this tv.
Any helpful pointers?

Vizio E65-E1
This forum has been helpful in fixing a previous Vizio TV I have. I picked one up off Facebook Marketplace for free. I took it apart and have been trying to fix it, but have hit a stop point.
When I got the TV it wouldn't turn on at all, no standby light or anything. The last TV I fixed there was an marking on the board for standby power. This TV didn't have anything marked like that. There was a 3V/5V pin on the main board. I wasn't getting any power on that pin, so I ordered a new power board. I put the new power board in and it didn't make any difference. I read that I needed...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello,
My name is Corey, I've used this site in the past to fix a broken tv. Currently working on another tv that was given to me. Struggling to repair the TV after doing a lot of research online. There appears to be a vast amount of knowledge on here and I hope you guys would be able to guide me closer to the solution.
