  • Re: LG 70UH6350 static and beep

so a bit of an update.

Instead of playing video through the hdmi port I went and setup the netflix app built into the TV and played some there. It played flawlessly for a couple of hours before I turned it off. I'll try the hdmi ports again and see if I can get a video of it doing the static and then the beep. But the beep is loud and continuous like the emergency broadcast sorta beep at the same time the video changes to an odd pixelated sorta static.

just never saw or heard anything like this.

    stay ...

  • LG 70UH6350 static and beep

So this TV starts up fine, will play a video signal and looks good, sounds good.

But a few minutes into it, the screen will go to pixelated static random pattern and a loud continous loud beep will play through the speakers. It will stay in this state for a few minutes and then turn itself off.

I can then turn it back on and repeat the cycle. Has anyone seen something like this before? I finally replaced my multimeter (long story) so will be taking this apart to troubleshoot further, gotta be the main board though, right? At any rate any tips on specifically what...

  • Toshiba 55LF621U19 firetv

    So I acquired a toshiba 55" 4k fire tv, 55LF621U19.
I got this for free from someone who was like if you can fix it you can have it.

I turn it on get a single flash, power light pulses and then it turns off. No logo, no picture or anything. I'm still pretty new to the whole fix tv thing, but I love to tinker. I know from some previous tv's that I think what happens is it's an LED protection thing, i.e. the circuit tries to initialize the LED backlights and something is off and it goes into protection mode.

I've fixed this before by finding the bad/shorted...

I know it's been a while. but been busy...

finally got around to de-soldering this diode out. once it's out of the board the diode test works like it should, current one direction. So i guess this particular diode is not really testable in board. As if I put it back in the board it shows current in both directions once again on the diode test.

I tried the OHM test with the diode off the board as well, my meter just auto selects the level and can't change it. but against the flow the resistance ia 17 M....

i feel even dumber now lol. They came right out once i pulled the right direction, new backlights in and tv buttoned up and works great.
    thx!...

started a topic ok, i'm dumb...

    ok, i'm dumb...

So I have an LG 55UH6090 where the backlights faded over time and progressively become bluer, I adjusted for this but ultimately knew that I would be replacing the backlights.

So I tore the TV down to the backlights (I could see that the actual lights were blue) and things were going well, I have the correct backlight replacement strips. and...

How do I get the bloody wiring harness off the strip. I've watched the shopjimmy videos and he just like wiggles it a little and it comes off effortlessly. I've depressed what looks like a retaining tab down and even tried...

  • Re: Vizio M321i-A2 power board

I put the multimeter on the diode setting.

In the direction the current is supposed to flow I get a 0.27 V reading.

In the opposite direction I get a reading of 0.7 V reading to start, what I noticed this time is if i leave the leads on there it starts to climb up and eventually reads .0L which is what is should read if I understand this right. All the other diodes when I do a reading in the opposite direction of the flow immediately read .0L (open loop) but this one always starts at around .7

    So...

  • Re: Vizio M321i-A2 power board

thx. so tested the diodes on the board (I had already tested for 5v standby with all connectors unplugged).

The diode circled is allowing volts in both directions. Now. I did not, obviously, de-solder the diode from the board to test it, testing it on the board is ok i think?

The other diodes check out fine, fuse has continuity. So i guess next step is to figure out the replacement diode and solder that in and see what i got....

  • Vizio M321i-A2 power board

so have the panel in the subject, no standby juice at all on pin 1. power button does nothing (obviously with no standby). (i tested with cable attached and not attached)

so I'm thinking bad power board. The fuse checks out fine (darn it) and i have power on the far side of it from the power source. Looking around the power boards for these things are far more expensive then what I would put in this TV, 60ish dollars.

I got this panel for free, so I can monkey with it and if it doesn't work out I'm not really out anything. So I am keen to try my first venture into...

  • Re: LG 49UH6090 back cover removal.

You are of course correct. I happened upon a good deal, didn't have time to tear the TV apart to verify the part. and I asked the guy and he said he'd take em back if they were incorrect. Just stinks that i have a torn apart TV and have to wait on new strips. but is what it is.

as an side, I can't believe it took me this long to find this forum. I have many more questions coming ...

  • Re: LG 49UH6090 back cover removal.

    thx Budm.

I think it was one of those things where I knew it had to be a clip, but was worried it was some other trick and I was gonna break something as I did have to use a bit more force then I like.

That said, of course I get my panel apart and the LED strips I have are not the right ones. Guy told me if they weren't the correct ones he'd let me return them, they came out of the same model tv, but my strips have 8 LED's in a joined A/B stip, the ones I got from him have 9. oh well off to track down some other...

  • Re: LG 49UH6090 back cover removal.

so it was a series of clips. I had to pop the first one toward the bottom a bit harder then i liked using a small flat head screw driver. After i did that the rest you can get.

There are a series of them running up the side. I was just afraid I'd damage it as it took a bit more force then I like to use on electronics. But no damage yet.

    That'll come later...

I'll take a pic of the clips just in case someone else runs into this.

  • LG 49UH6090 back cover removal.

Hi all, so I'm a pretty handy guy in general and love to tinker/fix things. I've done so with a few tv's so far and re-purposed them to family members.

My latest is I have an LG 49UH6090, the backlights have turned blue and slowly getting darker. From some reading I've done the indications are that I need to replace the backlights. That doesn't look too daunting to me and I have the backlights to install.

Then I tried to take the back cover off this thing. I have every screw out (and feet) and it damn near feels like I'm going to break the back panel in order to get it...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi all, been in the IT biz for longer then I care to think

My first system I built was a 386 with a whopping 25Mhz clock speed. I've always loved to tinker fixing this that and the other thing. Didn't know about this forum until i got a reference from shopjimmy actually on a question i had asked them.

thx for the great community !
