Re: Gateway Profile 4, 2 Seconds to Black
There are a bunch (10+) of silver colored caps on the board as well, the tops have a blue part (negative lead mark?) and 860 4V, are these also "usual suspects"?

Gateway Profile 4, 2 Seconds to Black
Hello,
I just replaced 4 kzg 1500 ufd 16V (swollen) caps on the main board of a Gateway Profile 4 with
2 seconds to black symptom. (Display visible with flashlight) with 4 25V Low ESR caps.
(A Profile 4 is a combo PC and display .)
No change in the symptom.
A Gateway Profile thread from 2005 shows two types of main boards, mine is more like the "improved" one with a large heat sink near the caps. Testing/changing CCFL's is new to me.
I haven't removed the metal backing from the LCD display.
I guess to avoid appearing totally...

Re: HP vf51: fade to black
Thanks everyone!
I finally got around to patching an old PC power supply to supply
12 volts Dc @ 4+ amps to the monitor, and it works fine!

As requested:
Here's photos of the back panel of the case with the inverter board, and another of the signal processor board....

Inre: posting pictures
When I attempted to take pictures last night, our digital cameras all had dead batteries!
Now that they are recharged, I hope to find time to take some decent photos.

Re: HP vf51: fade to black
The data sticker on the back panel of the monitor says
"Power Rating: [DC] 12V, 1.8A"
But this could be a case where the manual is right...

HP vf51: fade to black
HP vf51 Flat Panel Display
S/n CNNGM0N639
Mfg'd: March 2003
Assy P/n P4824-60501
I bought this LCD monitor at a 2nd hand store (no way to test it
in the store and a "No Returns" policy).
When powered up with a 12VDC 1.8A power supply and attached to a laptop,
it will display okay, but within a minute the display will flicker a couple of times and go black.
The long thin PCB (inverter board?) has this on its silk screen
E157925 94v-0
632127500-01 PTB-1275
the barcode on the transformer...
