Re: neo netbook W210CU after 10min beeps and shuts off
Check for stuck key on keyboard. Try booting it up without the keyboard connected and see if anything changes.

Re: Samsung LN46C610N1F LCD TV no backlight
Just want to report that this this thread saved another TV...
I had a Samsung LN46C630K1FXZA with the same issue. Power on, works normally if you shine a light at the screen, no backlight at all. All electrolytics looked ok. Power supply is the same BN44-00341B. The poly cap was bad, completely open. It even had the little bulge on the side of it. Replaced it with DigiKey P/N: PCF1574-ND - Panasonic / ECW-FA2J474J CAP FILM 0.47UF 5% 630VDC RADIAL and the TV is back to normal.

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Multiple people have reported that the chip itself has failed and must be replaced. If the chip can no longer physically be written to/read from in a standalone programmer then it must be replaced. No magic can be done through the USB service port to fix failed hardware....

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
The main problem is we have yet to find anyone with a working one who is willing to share the EEPROM data with the community. Until we have that, this whole effort is dead in the water.
As best we can tell so far, there isn't a good reason for the EEPROM to fail. It's not getting corrupted (indicating a software defect) but becoming physically unreadable. Being that there are vendors on Ebay and places like ShopJimmy that will repair these without any noticeable changes to the boards, the best guess is they...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Ah - this is good news. We don't have to worry that there is some other mysterious problem with these sets to be found as well. You get the honor of being the first person after months of ongoing discussion to have successfully self-repaired one of these TVs. Now we know for sure what the issue is!
The mods here are pretty easygoing so I wouldn't worry about your other post since you've now acknowledged understanding the rules...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Any hope for getting the EEPROM data? I can get access to a programmer and shipping across the border isn't going to make this a cost effective option otherwise.
Also, just a heads up to keep you from running afoul of the mods here, the forum rules state:...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
It seems as far as anyone knows here the EEPROM was/is the problem. We know that this isn't a complicated fix and that it has a high success rate on the repair since the repair services are being offered at a reasonable rate. I think you're also the first person here to have read out the EEPROM of a working set. Being that the EEPROM from the bad set didn't read properly then I think we're on the right track.
Logically I think we can conclude that one of the following is true:
1. The EEPROM data...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Even moreso now given the results we are seeing (chips are not reading at all), it seems like this would be a great help to the effort if you could find some time to do it. It seems like everyone that has one of these sets has a broken one...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
The EEPROM on my board does not have the white mark as the one pictured on the eBay ad for the repair service. It only has the small red mark to highlight the pin 1 dimple (Same as the mark on the IC near the USB port)
I'd also like to give a big thanks to those who are contributing to this thread. Having a community-sourced fix for this issue would be great!

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Cool to see there is some others working at this one! Mine is still laying here open after I ran out of ideas.
I have the same result which is that unplugging the LEDs does nothing. They also never even try to come on during power up.
We're still in the dark as to what the true meaning of the two flash code is or having any actual service literature for that matter so this could be the right path or it could be entirely off the mark. Without anything to go on, though, it is a logical path to...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
This is also useless information....
Firstly, this display does not come with a remote since it is meant to be paired with a PS3 and if it did it would not have number buttons as there is no tuner built in.
Secondly, you can't use the service menu if the set does not turn on.

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
I was almost going to go try this testing.... and then I realized I'd seen this from Fixya.... the most useless website ever for repair. I'd like tothe idiots that own that ad farm senseless. It says above this "Relevant solutions from other related problems that we feel might be a fix" meaning... it's for a different TV and is completely irrelevant. The source is a repair question for a Panasonic monitor....

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
I've unplugged the backlight (along will all other non-essential items) and no change. This set does not have a separate t-con board, the ribbons from the LCD go to the mainboard. It's more like a computer monitor than a TV set in overall construction. See the pic in post #3.

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
The monitor is still sitting here pushed off to the side of forgotten projects. It looks like the main board is not working but short of a direct replacement I don't know what is wrong at the component level or if it is repairable. I haven't found a source for good main boards so it's pretty much dead in the water unless someone with more skill or resources can figure out what is wrong with these boards.

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Yeah, it's going to be hard to find out as I think 99% of people are using only the HDMI with this TV. I would normally attribute random blanking to crappy HDMI/HDCP implementation (I got in some giant major Japanese brand professional displays at work once and they only worked right with certain BD players after convincing corporate their firmware needed to be fixed) but it could be the processor or something similarly important dying as well.
I haven't seen anywhere online that I can buy a main board for...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
For a lack of any better things to try, I checked out the voltage regulators I could find using the information in the linked post. They are LD1117A adjustable type (Same as shown in the post)
In the area above the front panel switch/led connector (the leftmost one) there are two regulators, U12 and one I can't find marked on the silkscreen:
Unmarked
LD1117A
Pin1 - .553v
Pin2 - 1.803v
Pin3 - 3.343v
U12
LD1117A
Pin1 - 2.092v
Pin2...

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
No problem, there's got to be one out there somewhere. I think the longest discussion on the Playstation forums about this or the random screen blanking issue these have (which seems to lead to the red light sooner or later) is around 65 pages with thousands of views. Clearly, many of these that are in warranty are being repaired and someone, somewhere works in a service center and is fixing these and knows what the deal is.

Re: Sony CECH-ZED1U Playstation 3D LED TV - Two Red Flash
Yeah it's a branding thing. It's just a 3D LED display with two HDMI and Component input but it is intended to be used with the PS3 (they don't even give you a remote since the PS3 can turn it on using HDMI CEC) but but you don't have to and it will work with other video sources or a computer (well, if it turned on that is) A service manual would be great
