Acer G257HL main board short circuit
This IPS LED monitor has the AC adapter apart, so it only receives 19 Vdc from the input jack. There is a short in the board already seen in the input jack. I've checked most capacitors, mosfets and diodes, and they seem to be fine.
I'm a bit lost. It's hard to follow the power lines and especially as I find continuity in so many parts. Evern removing mosfets, the short continues.
I used a thermal camera and the capacitor in the yellow circle was getting hot instantly. Removing it still kept the short, so the capacitor was just the victim, not the guilty.
There is a component...

Re: MSI A320M-A PRO broken component
Well, I finally measured the diode behavior of these components. Just one of these is working as a normal diode. They all have 0.256V in one direction, but the other direction varies from totally open to 0.8V and 1.2V.
Could these be the diodes marked in the attached figure?...

Missing capacitor in Cooler Master Real Power M620
The PSU's part number is: RS-620-ASAA-A1
I bought it as non working. I have checked all the caps and transistors, they look fine. But I found there is a cap missing (C49). Don't know if any of you guys has this PSU and can help me find the cap reference. Pics attached. Thanks....

Re: MSI A320M-A PRO broken component
Thanks mon2,
I've uploaded an image marking the area of these components. I'll check the diode function of these components, I'm just away from home right now.
Is this in line with the schematics?...

MSI A320M-A PRO broken component
I have a MSI A320M-A PRO board in which the Ethernet port is not working correctly. I have spotted these small components, with some of them being ripped off. I can read the number "40" on them but I can't identify them. A little help is appreciated. Thanks!...

Synology DS412+ no signs of life
I bouth in eBay a faulty DS412+.
It did show no sign of any kind of life: no fan spin, no LED turning on, no sound.
I tried a nother power supply (this one has external power supply, 12 Vdc). Same result.
I used a DC power supply and saw that it was ticking when I pressed the turn on button. So there was some short circuit.
I have no thermal camera, no other way of checking themps, so I thought: why not to increase the supply voltage?
So I did, and at 18 Vdc a capacitor exploded. That's what shows the first picture.
Surprisingly, the unit now shows some...

Hi, it's asking for a password to install it. Any idea which it could be?...

[Video] Screen flicker
This is happening randomly but steadily. Is it the backlight? Or is it the graphics card itself? I'd say the llater, but have no idea why. It's happening in any window, so it's not program specific.

Re: Help identify burnt capacitor?
Thanks R_J. But the size doesn't match; That HCB4532 has a footprint of 4.5x3.2 (mm). The component was closer to something like 0805 (2.0x1.2 mm).
Found a high resolution image showing the component in healthy condition....Last edited by mc4ren; 05-15-2020, 01:16 PM.
