Hello,
Today upgraded the Braswell BGA SoC on HP Stream 11-ak1012dx laptop!
X5-E8000 (SR2LV) to N3710 (SR2KL)
Same CPUID for microcode, 406C4, and extracting the BIOS shows that all are supported.
I did not have to anything like modify BIOS image or clear ME/TXE. Everything just worked.
Very nice to see that the BIOS supports CPUs that weren't even offered on any boards using that BIOS image.

Kind Regards,...

Braswell BGA SoC Upgrade Success - HP Stream 11-ak1012dx

Re: Hot air station - 858D opinions?
You can get lucky or not. I have used this for pull/reball/install many chips like RAM, small BGA, etc. Of course, not for medium-large style BGA, use a rework machine for that.
My friend got one that barely melts solder.
So seems it's hit or miss.
Kind Regards,
Josh

Re: NVidia bumpgate
Same exact fault on X360 graphics chips from ATi/TSMC. MS even admits this a bit vaguely (due to the audience target being non-technicians). Was never the solder
Kind Regards,
Josh
