• Re: Sony KDL-46X3500 switches off and shows 5 red led diagnosis.

"Playing around with lethal voltages, like you're doing"

I know how and why the fuses blew, I know shorting them is far from ideal - stuck for options at the time.

The voltages on the control boards are minimal - the only risk is frying the board, rather than risk to self.

    I didn't pay for the TV, I don't really give a damn.

If I had made any progress I would have switched them out.

Although the lesson what you are attempting to give...

  • Re: Sony KDL-37U4000 bad colour - TCON fault

Cool. That's the qualification I was looking for.

I know this replacement board I received was bad because I measured the Gamma outputs and they were shite.

After I changed the chip, the measurements were good, but still iffy picture...

Notice, Jimmy is out of stock....

    Need a supplier.....

These guys reckon their board will work....

  • Sony KDL-37U4000 bad colour - TCON fault

    Hi guys,

as I mentioned in the thread for the KDL-46X3500 (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=901357#post901357) the guy was throwing two TV's out, and this KDL-37U4000 was the other one.

The 46" worked stright away - amazing.

The 37" presented with colour issue as he had suggested.

Polarised, I think is the correct term.

So, after research I ordered replacement IC AS15-U and proceed to replace the chip in the TCON...

Hi guys, sorry for the delay, I have extreme personal problems, but nothing new.

    So.

Lots of progress, then lots of tears.

I shorted the connector (left power on) as I connected to main board. TV turned off. Pulled main board and discover fuse close to connector had gone open. NO replacement, so shorted it with solder.

TV turned back on to 5 led fault...so hopefully back to where I was.

    ---

I could hear a ticking sound coming...

Hi nomoresonys, thanks for the reply...

I have tried to adopt some logical approach although I am reasonably ignorant ..this is what I have managed so far...

I have unplugged the power to the TCON and the LVDS cable - restart gets same fault, so isolating the TCON does not change fault status. (So I am thinking, it may not be the TCON board...)

If I unplug the LVDS cable from the FB2 Main AV board, and restart, the fault still remains. (so its probably not the...

  • Sony KDL-46X3500 switches off and shows 5 red led diagnosis.

Hi, I have a sony kdl-46x3500 that now presents with a 5 red led flash code.

Originally. I was told by the person who gave it to me that the tv had a power issue and wouldnt turn on, thats why he was throwing it out.

I took it off him and got it home and it worked straight away with out issue for a day.

Then I laid it down and took the stand and rear cover off and promptly got the fault.

The tv will turn on (green led) but no picture, then after about 30-1min will automatically switch off to show fault code.

    I think the...
