Re: Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB - doesn't turn on
Thanks!
Could a fried chip or short cause other problems on the motherboard?
________________________________________________________
Just for advice:
Would it be better to spend 250$ on repairing the MBO (buying new chips and replacing them) or to spend 200$ for a new motherboard - because I don't know what are the chances of successful repair.
The one that I have is i7-7500U / 16GB RAM
New one would be i5-7*** / 8GB RAM

Lenovo Yoga 720 13IKB - doesn't turn on
Hello!
I've recently bought cheap Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB with possible RAM problems. The laptop worked but when it filled about 20-25% RAM (out of 16GB) the system shut down with an error (BSOD). Before buying new motherboard I've thought I'd try to reflow the RAM because it worked strange..
For example MemTest only showed errors, it couldn't boot from USB (except Linux Mint) but it booted to Windows normally after installing it on a different PC, etc.
I did the reflow on the RAM at about 215°C for few seconds on IR light reflow station. After that...

Embedding Windows OEM key into BIOS
Hello!
There was a problem with BIOS on my Dell Latitude E7440. I've made a backup just in case and reflashed both EC and MAIN BIOS. After I had to do update to latest version because the laptop would not turn on. (I've managed to turn it on once in 10-20 tries). Now it works just fine but I lost the embedded OEM key.
I have the key from original backup and I've tried to use ME Tool to change the key but it does nothing.
Found the address line where the key is stored but when I write it in new dump also nothing happens.
Is there any way...

Dell Latitude E7440 - Unable to update BIOS
Hello!
There was a problem with the laptop that it won't turn on unless the BIOS settings are on default (without CMOS battery). However, I've fixed it with replacing both of the chips (EC+MAIN) and programming them.
New problem emerged when I tried to update the bios (because the dump file was older and I couldn't find newer (A08 I believe and the new is A28))
The update utility runs, finishes it's "Preparing to update BIOS", restarts laptop and that's it. Nothing updates.
Found on some other forum to turn off the "Intel...

Re: Lenovo ThinkPad T440p running slow
I couldn't find the way how to erase ME but I've found the problem and solved it. One of the four laptops had 65W adapter and when I replaced it with 90W it started to work normally. The other one started to work after inserting the battery.
My friend also had this problem and after inserting the battery, the laptop started to work just fine.

Lenovo ThinkPad T440p running slow
Hello!
I've bought four T440p laptops. I've installed m.2 SSD disk, 16GB DDR3L 12800, cleaned the fans, changed the thermal paste and installed fresh Windows 10 Pro UEFI boot, Secure Boot on. Updated BIOS and all drivers.
Two of them are working perfectly, no problems whatsoever. The other two are extremely slow. I've erased the bios and reprogrammed them with the same dump from the working ones, changed the CPU, RAM, SSD, tried unplugging everything except the motherboard, tried installing Linux OS, Windows 7 on m.2 SSD and normal SATA SSD and still they are working...
