Re: Samsung XE700T1C charging circuit
Any idea how I can find that out? Thing is I'm not sure of this qualifies for a laptop cause it's a tablet pc
Apparently the codename is Jones?

Re: Samsung XE700T1C charging circuit
I think the mobo code is:
BA92-11606A
any assistance or tips on how I might deal with this without schematics?

Re: Samsung XE700T1C charging circuit
not really sure where to find it and I don't think you might know either
Would it be helpful if I took pictures of the entire motherboard?
Looking through the spare parts available which seems to be quite substantial, I noticed APL5155 a low ground current linear regulator, i wonder why that is a available......Last edited by Proxyep; 11-11-2013, 08:07 PM.

Samsung XE700T1C charging circuit
not sure how familliar anyone would be with this but long story short, a reversed polarity charger was connected to this and now it won't charge. I can't find any circuit diagrams of this (I looked through the service manual and found nothing)
but I think I have found the charging circuit ( the -dc in leads to one of the pins of the TI chip), I'm pretty sure there is a diode or fuse blown somewhere that can be replaced, the battery itself isn't getting any of the charging current (12v in, the battery which is currently at 7.5v stays at 7.5 v when the charger is plugged in)

identifying SMD ceramic capacitor damage
I have a few graphics cards (not working) on which the SMD ceramic capacitors appear to be different colors.
The are mainly brown (like normal SMD ceramic capacitor brown) but others are a dark grey! Thing is on the exact same motherboard revision but another different board the exact same capacitor can be a different color
Long story short but does the dark grey mean that it has overheated/burnt?

removing solder
this is not simple solder removing I'm talking about
I'm talking about removing ALL traces of solder on say a copper contact that wasn't supposed to have solder, see I accidentally split solder on a little copper contact, I wicked away the excess but there are still little traces of solder on it any Ideas on how to remove traces of solder? this is purely cosmetic and the item in question is still functional

Re: i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
well if I have to remove them I will I guess

Re: i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
good point, but I was using the electrodes from point to point of the cap, would like to avoid de soldering good ones but any way of telling if I am?...

Re: i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
nope tried again, still no dice.
Its a bad idea to put in a smaller cap right?
could someone else with a i7 920 please try testing their caps for me?Last edited by Proxyep; 08-20-2011, 11:20 PM.

Re: i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
maybe I measured it wrongly and its 1.4 uf?

yeah, any other names for it? I can't seem to find anywhere to buy em...

Re: i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
hey sorry for dragging this tread up but how to I find the voltage value for a SMD cap?
also aside from the predicted 22 uF values there were some 13.9 UF values, namely the one on the top right hand corner one, can anyone else confirm they get 13.9uF or about there or is that one gone FUBAR?
also what is the technical name for the slim type capacitor, LICC?Last edited by Proxyep; 08-19-2011, 07:58 PM.

Re: i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
hmm.... so far what you guys have said have been quite helpful but I still don't know what the thin~ish capacitor is called
edit: a quick search revealed that it is a thin type MLCC!!! now to get a capacitance measuring multimeterLast edited by Proxyep; 07-29-2011, 01:59 AM.

i7 920 SMD capacitors/resistors
I bought a i7 from a overclock.net forum member a while back back. I originally received it broken even though seller advertised working. It probably was working except that the seller just shipped it with no protection inside a USPS flat rate envelope along with 6gb DDR3 ram that I bought as a bundle. I have tried to reach a settlement with the seller but to no avail and now I am stuck with it and have to try and fix it.
The bottom side capacitors along with some what I assume are resistors are broken
anyone ever re-solder on those...
