Re: Tivo HD possible power supply issue
Here is what I have found so far using the Panasonic FM units. There are a few I'm missing, so any help is appreciated. Also, thoughts on replacing the 470uv 200v unit?

Tivo HD possible power supply issue
Hello everyone. I have a Tivo HD (model # TCD652160) whichis having some issues. from time to time, when I switch to the unit, I get absolutely no video. Resolution is to power cycle the unit. In speaking with Tivo, they also confirmed that it will go numerous days without talking to their servers for an update. I spoke with Weaknees and they suspect either power supply or harddrive, and they are leaning towards power supply. i opened the unit and found no caps that physically looked bad, however, I understand that there could still be issues.
Below I have two lists of caps. List...

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Just to make sure I'm hearing this right, you think I could just place the connector from the old board on the new board and solder through the larger holes? This may be doable....

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
I've found a couple service manuals, however, not the one for the vw246. It appears the cable I'm looking at is the KEY BOARD CABLE. If I can find one with the proper ends, I may try to get it in. Otherwise, I'll be reaching out to the ebay seller to see if I can return the board and I'll just scrap the monitor, which will be a real shame.

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
I was considering doing this too, however, the holes that have the solder are the very small ones I have highlighted in the small red box in the attached picture. When I flipped the board over, I just didn't see any way I could desolder and resolder while still keep the points separate...it's just too tight. I'm thinking the best bet would be to determine what kind of cable I can order as a replacement with the ribbon end on that end.
Edit: if I can find the service manual for the VE249 monitor (which is what the new board is specified...

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Well, unfortunately I went ahead and purchased the board on ebay. It looks "almost" exactly the same, but I didn't pickup on the differences until after the fact. As can be seen in the pics, the connector the goes onto the cable that eventually connects to the front panel buttons is not the same. as such I can't power on the unit to test. Does anyone know where I can buy a cable that will have this connector on here (7-pin). I really want to get this up and going...especially after ordering that input card....

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Did you end up buying the board? If so, did it work?...

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Not sure why. All I know is that I contacted the seller and they informed me it would not work. In looking at the pics, they look like a match, however there could always be subtle differences.

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Well, unfortunately this board is not compatible with my monitor and the seller has no access to the correct one. If anyone hears of a possible location, please let me know. Thanks

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Any thoughts on where I can obtain one? The only place I found them was shop jimmy, but they have always said no stock....

Any thoughts then on what I should do next?

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Would it be normal for pin two on each of these to not have any connection to the PCB? in looking at the upper unit, there is solder on the board, but no connection from the pin to the solder. On the lower one, there is no solder on the pcb for pin 2.
Based on the responses then, is it appropriate for me to gather that the readings are accurate and that these units are working? If so, any thoughts on what I can test next? if not, any thoughts on how to resolve?...Last edited by alexsquared; 10-18-2012, 06:05 AM.

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Sorry for the delay, just got a chance to do this. Please see below. From top down:
3- 1.208 v
2- 0v (no visible connection to pcb)
1- 3.317 v
1- 2.068 v
2- 3.317 v (no visible connection to pcb)
3- 5.053

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
Pardon my ignorance, but I'm assuming you are referring to the IC's I have attached and circled on this post? If so, any indication as to which pin I need to check voltage at, and also helpful would be a recommendation as to where to get a good ground reference. Lastly, I'll have to double check that I can get all ribbon and other cables connected (so I can power on for voltage readings) and still have access to the upper side of the IC for these readings. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.
Part of me is wondering if the best solution...

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
OK, so I finally got a chance to open this bad boy up. Took some good (i believe) pictures of the main board. I did see some discoloration on the PCB that I'll highlight in the pics (pics with MU at end are the marked up ones). Any insight would be greatly appreciated....

Re: ASUS vw246h no video
I'll try to open up the unit this weekend. Thanks for the input.
