power led good, stand by after a few seconds and led turns amber but if i move the mouse it turns to green again which means that the lcd is good and the culprit maybe the inverter ckt or the ccfl.
can i use ccfl bulb from another monitor of different model to test it is working, how will i know the working V of the bulb.
here's some pic of the inverter ckt.
no bulging caps
another broken 17" lcd
burn in power supply area, probably the switching transistor and an ic underneath
can i modify...

Re: Mixing logic families
i think there should be no problem mixing atmels or pic micros with other logic familys, LS are for low-speed circuit (4mhz?) while HC are for high speed circuits (20Mhz?)
it will be based on the design and purpose of the circuit.

Re: Questions about motherboard testing
hi i think its the two legs, test all, if its good, 1 has a 1M reading and the other leg has 0 reading, if both legs (long) are 0 there it is bad vrm.
that was my case in one of my board, 0 0 replace regulator, and it worke

Re: overheating southbridge/chipset
thanks for the reply, 1 board is asrock socket754 with nvidia chipset
the other one is ecs nforce 3a s754, yes, the chipset is so hot that it will burn your fingers when you try to touch it.
the other one i think used to have its chipset overheat, but after further testing and i think recapped it again have had the chipset return to normal temp.
btw. again, thanks for the help

overheating southbridge/chipset
no boot/dead board, need help in finding the fault
motherboard 1 (ecs s754)
died after finding bulding caps, then no boot
recapped but had overheating chipset, with power, 2 vrm/mosfet (near cpu socket)has no measure voltage, others are good
motherboard 2
automatically turns-on, measured voltage, some caps has voltage measured, while others dont have.
does torroid coil fail? if yes, what are tell-tale signs
too hot chipsets?what are possible causes
what makes board to automatically power on after plugging atx power...

Re: Computer stupidities
here's mine...blew up a friends psu...didnt notice that the voltage selector was set to 110v - our standard wall outlet rating is 220v
when i was a kid, i plugged an led direct to the wall outlet...the result as a blinding flashband temporarily blindin me for about 10 seconds.
