What I have is an amp that I was using and have switched it out as I get new amps (some to fix and others are working fine) it always worked fine and while I had it out I decided to look inside, I'm sure everyone who frequents this site has opened up most of their amps just to get a look at the quality of it.
I noticed right away that the 2 large Caps looked crowned and cut the cap off to make sure that they were actually domed or not. After I cut both off I saw that they were indeed very slightly domed. The amp still functions as it should but while it's out and I'm ready to replace...

Re: KICKER DX250.1 Direct Short on Pos & Neg Power Wires? Why?
Well thank you guys for leading in a direction that sounds realistic instead of just criticizing my sentence structure, I had no idea that the main idea of this forum was first and foremost having the emphasis based on my writing skills, I will have to warn you that I was a D to c+ student in English classes but was somehow able to get straight A's in Math and Science. Managing to graduate early with honors no less, but also no ambition to turn it into anything.
But anyway, I agree that the short...

Re: KICKER DX250.1 Direct Short on Pos & Neg Power Wires? Why?
I have a Fluke 87 and another 6 or so other meters also have a Sony Tektronix 326 scope. I just have never seen an amp that had this problem before with any obvious burnt fets. Every other amp that has problems has always had major unmistakable exploded fets and usually some burnt copper that leads up the them.
(paragraph)
As far as the box of packaged components I have, I have no plans on using them for anything until I can figure out what they are?! Was my question that hard...

KICKER DX250.1 Direct Short on Pos & Neg Power Wires? Why?
Used amp noticed the fuses were both blown (2x15A) so I used caution while I tested it. Put in 2 new fuses and hooked up the Battery + & - to the amp only, popped the main 60A fuse back into the distribution block and instantly blew the fuses. Removed it and took a closer look at it under my high powered inspection glass set up. Found no signs of any direct short any where. Removed board from heatsink, looked at all Fets and saw nothing except a very slight looking light blueish smoke residue near a screw that holds the rail onto the Fet and Temp sensor onto the heatsink. But this was such...Last edited by zinda; 03-02-2013, 12:35 AM.

digital camera flash and focus problems
I have a few digital cameras most just don't work but 2 of them are nicer models first off Minolta Diamge S414 has a problem with autofocus and flash. The camera will show "err" in the top lcd when I try and use the flash in auto mode. It just doesn't flash or take a picture when using it in manual mode. Also it will not focus in auto mode. It looks really clear until I push the button to set the camera then it focuses and completely losses the focus! I took the case off to inspect the flash issue because I'm sick of having to always set up lights to use the camera indoors. I see the...

Re: Netgear WGR614V6
all of my netgear routers wireless and vpn have quit working properly. I have 2 of each plus an old print server and some othe type that I could never get to load a page other than the netgear configuration pages. I thougfht that they was incompatible with IE8 or Win 7 and replaced them with a Linksys wireless and no issues at all! I did this about 6 months ago, and I've noticed a huge number of netgear routers appearing a thrift stores. I made my conclusion that this is a compatibility issue based on that.

Re: Mitsubishi DLP Color loss (update)?
I'm sorry but I've been wrestling with the TV and then trying to get good shots with any of my numerous oldish digital cameras has forced me to move on without pictures but I do have positive permanent results. I ended up changing out the 80mm fan that cools the engine board to a 120mm and cut the shroud away to do so. Added a new cardboard duct to the back panel. I used the original fan connection but had to switch the wiring to match. I swapped out the connector from the 80mm. I noticed that the 73" model has 2 exhaust routes but has...

Re: Mitsubishi DLP Color loss (update)?
i'm getting a temp sensor (infrared) so I can find local temps inside the back area and find the hot spot to figure an exhaust route to be ran by a 100vac fan that I will turn on with the set via relay. send pictures next time as i go trough the process, but I found so far that reversing the new 1200mm fan did not provide a full fix and also cleaned the screen behind the fan for the color wheel assembly. I noticed that this fan had shown a flaking label looks like it's really dried out and stated to come off. I regreased the fan and recovered...

Mitsubishi DLP Color loss (update)?
I have a hand me down 73" with the typical color problem and have been reading the posts about this and how to find or solve this. Just as others after the set is on for a while the colors go into a change period then drop out. After reading the Plain Bill post on what his findings were, I went ahead and tried a few things myself with nothing really to lose but the $20 for gas to get it. I hacked a 120mm fan onto the metal cage that shrouds the color sync assembly board "PMW" I believe. It had the 80mm thin fan blowing into the board area. Turned it on with back cover off and within...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hello everyone! It took me while to locate the icon to leave a message in this thread so I'm hoping I'm left this message in the correct place. Obviously I'm not much of a forum poster as I am a forum reader always hoping my questions will be answered in old posts. What brings me here to this nice group of well educated and informative people is a growing interest in electronic repair challenges that I've taken on over the last 10 or so years. I always thought I was destined to be in some electronics related job since a child...
